OT: Connecticut school shooting
I hope that everyone and their families/friends associated with this board are safe. Horrible, horrible tragedy. May everyone affected have strength, faith and love to get through this very difficult time.

Re: OT: Connecticut school shooting
An elementary school!!?? Seriously, what is wrong with these people??
I echo Jeff's sentiments and I sincerely hope no one from these boards is affected directly in any way... Man, I just cannot even begin to imagine being on either side of something like this. What must be the state of mind of the gunman and then to be on the other side caught in something so horrific...

Re: OT: Connecticut school shooting
Two towns over from me. My son's school is on lockdown. What a terrible situation. I just don't understand how someone could possible shoot children. I know a family in that town but their kids go to a private school. I'm sick to my stomach. Can't wait to get my son off the bus.

Re: OT: Connecticut school shooting
There is a report that shooter's mother was a teacher at the school. He entered and shot people in the main office and then went to the mother's classroom and killed her and all the kids in the class. WTF?!?!?!?

Re: OT: Connecticut school shooting
"This is the sad reality of a society that promotes violence and war through the internet, TV, video games, Theater, sports, and everyother method of communication. We are exposed to violence from an early age, combine this with lack of values and it becomes a recipe for disaster. This is not a gun control issue, this is a social issue. How can we control guns when we are the number one arm-seller in the world? How can we advocate for peace and love when we take any chance to initiate war around the earth? how can we expect a safe society when we promote violence through the mass media? The problem is that our society only cares about violent crimes when they directly affect us no one stops and actually tries to think WHY do they happen. This is a very sad day in America, expect many of those in the future until we change our ways." - EcasadoSBU
May these children rest in peace in a better place. I can't even imagine how the families feel at right now. Terrible

Re: OT: Connecticut school shooting
My three best friends live in that town (about 20 minutes from us). The one who has a child fortunately moved to North Carolina about 3 years ago otherwise his child would currently be in that school. Just sickening.....no words can describe it. You can't make a fictional movie and believe the killer would be that sick and twisted. We will be having a lot of long talks with my 5th grader about this during the weekend..... in between hugs.

Children.
Awful, horrific tragedy. Thoughts and prayers to all the families suffering in Newtown,CT right now- and also thoughts, hopes, and prayers everywhere as this really hits home and resonates with any family all over the country.

Re: OT: Connecticut school shooting
I will not be reading any articles or watch any news about any shooting. The media is really making this too popular. The people who read/watch these events are causing the media to cover it. I'm going to try the Cesar Millan method. You ignore this bad behavior. I think a lot of people do this for their 15 minutes of fame. They are going to kill themselves anyways so they might as well spread their misery and make people care about their death. The people might not care that the killer died but they will care.
I'm sorry for all the parents who have to explain this to their kids. I was at a restaurant the other day when a dad tried explaining to his daughter about the Oregon mall shooting. He told her that it was across the country and there is nothing to worry about. I dont think that is going to work this time. |
