Where is patch complaining about how nobody is giving seton hall props for the win? I havent read anything that mentions seton hall in any good light. They did win the game.

They showed the replay quite a few times at worst it could have been a Tech. because it appeared the back of his hand brushed Brenton's face.

Brenton flopped & went down like he was shot with an elephant gun. As good as Brenton is and he is damn good he is a better actor. He wasn't hurt at all.

I am right here - I am amazed that the SBU fans talk about missed bunnies and open looks.

I am sure that pirate fans can say the same thing as to why they didn't win by double digits even though they spotted "The Brook" an 18-7 lead.

Maybe teams miss open looks and bunnies because they are rushing or just a little apprehensive.

With all that said I am very impressed with SBU they are some tough SOBs.

I also like BU's team even though they struggled with a real good Belmont team. they have played a real good schedule!

No one has been a bigger fan of Brenton's than I over the past three years, and no one has been a more vocal critic of cheap shots, thuggish play and fouls with intent to injure (se the offensive I went on in regards to Ben Dickinson last year) but I just didn't see it that way last night. The foul looked real bad at game speed when it initially happened, but watching it on the replays and then on TiVo, it looked like the two were ties up going for a rebound and Oliver yried to push tommy off of him and accidentally grazed him in the face. Replays looked like Oliver was not looking at tommy when he did it so it is hard to think his intent was to catch him in the face, an it was an open-handed grazing that Brenton really oversold. I think by the rule book it could have and possibly should have been a flagrant 1 because contact was to the head, but it definitely did not merit an ejection - didn't look intentional to me.

I for one do not blame the loss on any missed shots. Misses are part of the game. I hope that some of the misses are a result of hurrying as you suggest or even being a bit tired towards the end of the game. If it was out of apprehension or nerves then we have a big problem. Im still despondent and don't want to comment more. We play Manhattan Tuesday and then conference play starts. If I can just bottle up my angst for a couple more days I can move past this debacle.

He grabbed his arm on purpose and hit him in his face. As he hit him in the face he extended his arm. In football that is a 15 yard personal foul. At the very least the refs should have said oh SH*t we missed two obvious calls lets give him a flagrant 1 becasue thats all they could do. At least get the ball back to SBU.

Tough to point out refs calls when your big man missed some 1ft shots with nobody in front of them. Makes even a couple that typically makes SBU has a nice lead.

SBU even had 2 steals at the end with around a minute left...they had plenty of opportunities to win.

I agree with you guys 100 percent. not only our big man. Brenton missed a foul shot, warey missed one and coley missed two!!!! But you have to admit the weak call on tommy right after that play and the 10 second calls were bad.

Everyone talks about the TO with 17 seconds left i dont think it was bad. Coley stepped out of bounds twice against sacred heart on the fast break. He makes me nervous when he get full speed. The real bad time out was the one with 6 minutes left SBU had all the momentum after just scoring to go up 5. He basically gave willard an oppurtunity to settle his team down and took away a timeout he needed late in the game. He also put took out bracey who already made a couple shots and put in McAlister whom doesnt get it. He did all this wit h1.4seconds left. Those two things really boggled my mind.

The good news is Warney was terrible but that will hopefully not happen again. Tommy was one of the best players on the court if not the best. He didnt score much but all their up tempo scores were beccause of him. He made the press look like swiss cheese. Pikiell found out quickly that Tommy couldnt come out of last nights game. Coley and AJ played well. Bracey is playing better and seems to be getting more confident and mayo look like the clear favorite over mcalister. All in all after player 2 big east teams and an ACC team SBU has the talent to compete with the lower level teams in those conferences.

I love his hustle and work ethic but that only goes so far - yesterday he was ordinary there will be many AE games where he will be "one of the best if not the best" but I didn't see yesterday as one of those games.

Just a personal neutral view point.

I'd love to have him at UA but lets not think he is perfect.

Foul on Brenton was not a flagrant. He sold it enough to get a second look by refs.
Timeout by Pikiell was not a mistake. Was the right thing to do. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. I'd rather have them set up a play than run helter skelter and throw up a crap shot or turn it over.
Debacle? A 1 point loss to a Big East team? Disappointing as hell? Yes!! But not even close to a debacle. Problem is we at SBU tend to overreact to both wins and losses. Let it play out.

Mayo is a 5, McAlister is a 4. McAlister will not be benched for Mayo. Funny how there were no problems with his play after Maryland game. Smh at second guessing after the fact type analysis.

i think he controlled the game. He made Seton Hall's press irrelivant. he was the reason why stony brook was in the game. Granted his numbers dont impress anyone but his numbers never impress anyone outside of the AE. He is the best player in the conference. He has an effect on the game that no other player has and he doesnt do it with the stat sheet.
