It was nice being there with an enthusiastic stony brook crowd (at least for the late part of the game). the Defense Chants were awesome... The team performed very poorly but we got the win which is what really matters. I guess any team can have its bad days (see Butler&Uconn on the 2011 NCAA Championship) but we came out on top. 9-4!

That's right! It's the America East's very own Stony Brook Seawolves Men's Basketball Team. That's right - the number one team in the country in ooc road victories with 6. - SaltySW

Best road win for SBU was St Francis of Brooklyn at 189 RPI, that's called good scheduling.

Even though SBU has been very impressive on the road an unimpressive UA squad has been hanging right in there too!

UA won 6 away from home but one is considered a neutral site victory.

As usual Salty you're grabbing at straws and you need not as SBU is very good on its own and doen't need your inflation..

UVM had accomplished this feat a few years back of having most ooc road wins. I remember as a Vermont fan thinking it was a silly stat to pimp out. I believe Lonergan several times in interviews too would say "say we have the most road wins in the country". My point being is it good to win on the road? Short answer is yes. But, "having the most road wins" is decieving when comparing to all of D1 cause all those power 6 and high mid majors don't go on the road that often in ooc cause they are hosting teams like UVM, sbu and other low majors so that is a misleading stat

My sincerest, heartfelt apologies if my intent on this post has been misconstrued. Perhaps my overzealous and liberal use of the exclamation mark has clouded my true intent. I do not mean to thump my Seawolf chest and present this news as how awesomely awesome Stony Brook is. I merely presented the fact that no other team in the entire nation has more ooc road wins this year as a tasty morsel of information. I do not mean to infer that based on this unique fact that Stonybrook is some kind of super power. I will use other stats and facts for that. I was just presenting a neat tidbit for all of the AE die hards out there. One other interesting fact - SB is 4-0 against MAAC teams this year.

4-0 against the MAAC. Now that you can thump your chest at! I'm glad, I feel like the AE has owned the MAAC this year. Someone needs to compile those numbers of our overall record vs them this year, I think we killed it!

Woops...I always confuse MAAC schools with NEC schools. By my calculations we were 9-8 as a conference against the MAAC (quick scan).

I heard the SBU will play all AE games with cinder blocks tied to their feet just to make things more fair. They were prepared to play wearing mittens but that wasn't considered a big enough diss, although the mittens and the cinder blocks together are being considered for some of the games. Any reports on this?

I think in addition to this, when they play Maine, the 2 coaching staffs should switch benches...

I wouldn't say most road wins is misleading as it's somewhat implied that the power school aren't going to leave home very much OOC- a team like Syracuse for example- but to have the most road wins is still very impressive. For a mid-major, it's a testament of how good your program is in not only winning those games, but it shows teams are afraid to come into your home court as well- just look at 09-10 Marqus' senior year, nobody wanted to come play us.

It's also definitely important to be able to win on the road- especially for us. As long as UVM still plays in Patrick Gym we're always going to have to go on the road in the AE Tournament, in some cases (last season) will need to go on the road in the AE Title game- will also always have an away game(s) in NCAA Tournament and NIT.

In short, pretty much all the most important games will be played away from Patrick Gym.

Finally, I think in the Lonergan/Becker years we've been just as impressive on the road as we have at home. Just looking at this year, our worst performances have been at home this season. I'm sure obviously the team loves playing at home- but I think they enjoy being on the road quite a bit as well.

No problem with that decision.

I don't want to harp on Mcallister but he needs to work on his rebounding and defending (toughness). He is athletic and can block shots. It will come to together eventually. Pikiell deserves credit for the defense the Brook plays. They will be in every game because they play the best D in the league. On a day like yesterday when the O is struggling the defense won the game. Great job coach.
