Re: AE Gameday 1/2/13- Conference Play Begins
Congrats Maine...looks like out of the gate BU is going to have to work hard to win that NIT bid. Surprised by this outcome.

Bing loses by 3. Can be directly attributed to the turnovers. They shot better, rebounded even but were -12 in TOs. The game seems frustrating and equally encouraging going forward.

Good game in Hartford. I'm sad that Bing fought so hard and come up just short in the end, but at least I can be happy that another AE team fans are happy, better then losing against non-conference foes. Nwakamma is a beast.

Re: AE Gameday 1/2/13- Conference Play Begins
I said this all off-season, but BU is really severely disadvantaged in the front court. Back court- excellent- front court probably one of the weakest in conference. Dom Morris has been playing great, but if he turns in a 5pt night that's just not going to cut it. BU really has no margin for error down low.
Fraser should be able to get whatever he wants against BU and it appears he did just that tonight.

Re: AE Gameday 1/2/13- Conference Play Begins
Maine was down 38-29 with about 15 minutes to go and they really decided to lock down & play tough team defense. They had several blocks, deflections and steals and eliminated all second chance looks by controling the boards. Mike Allison was huge with 11 rebounds. Fraser had Malik Thomas on him quite a bit for some strange reason and Maine really exposed that matchup. Pollard picked up his buddy Edwards and had some big baskets. Mesghna, who was invisable in the first half, had a couple big hoops. Maine received some excellent minutes at the point from Shaun Lawton until he rolled his ankle mid way through the second. Watson and Irving got their points, but Maine controled the paint, which was the difference in this one.

Re: AE Gameday 1/2/13- Conference Play Begins
I went to the Hartford/BingU game tonight. Very impressed with Bingu's resiliency tonight. Every time Hartford would pull out to a 6 or 7 point lead BingU would fight right back. Gray was amazing. Extremely impressive. Not only was he hitting from everywhere, he also had a hand in his face on most occasions. I also thought Moquette was impressive. He looked solid and was a team player. If tonight was indicative of the talent of each team then they are quite close. Nwakamma played well for Hartford but put himself in constant foul trouble which is his MO. Cooper and Wroe were the only other Hawks that looked like they came to play today.

Oh don't be too excited for us just yet...we have seen this multi-part performance in the past. This probably won't last too awful long...
