Albany at UVM 1/5/13

I know it's early but I'm excited about this one already.

Albany seems to be one of the best teams in the conference, thus far, so it should be a good indicator of where we are. I suspect it will be pretty important to hold serve at home and steal a couple of wins on the road this season.

Albany always scouts us really well, so hopefully we'll have some different wrinkles for them.

It's hard for me to believe Iati is that much better than the kid I saw in the tournament last year, but he seems to be the catalyst for their success thus far. It will be interesting to see what he looks like this year.

I'm assuming there will be a couple of Albany fan busses in the house, as we will be returning the favor when we go there. Should make for a full house and a pretty fun game.

Go cats! Gotta get this one!

There will be a fan bus coming from Albany for this game. It should be a battle like usual. I am pretty confident it will be a close game, have no idea who will win. Looking forward to heading to Burlington on Saturday.

Real Time RPI has UVM as a 9 point favorite.

Sagarin Predictor has UVM by 3.2 points, all from the home court ad.

Re: Albany at UVM 1/5/13

UVM has struggled for some reason this year at home, we haven't played well for 40 minutes. It WILL take a great effort by everyone involved to pull out a W. Albany is impressive this year, this game makes me nervous. No way UVM is a 9 point favorite, real time rpi had us as a 10-12 point favorite vs CofC.

The Cats are known for laying eggs at home and this year is no different.

Albany 78 Vermont 65

I have no idea what the outcome will be, but I doubt that many points will be scored. If Albany gets to the 70s we lose. I suspect the our coaches want to keep the game in the 50's.

Re: Albany at UVM 1/5/13

This should be a good, competitive game. No idea what the outcome will be either though and not too concerned win or lose as it's the second game of conference play.

I would like to see some of the guys that stepped up in the UNH win- O'Day, Crenca, Rusin- continue to play well. That was nice to see.

I would also like to see the Cats play a good game at home-especially in the home opener for conference play. No sloppy play would be nice- if we do lose, I really hope it's not a crap fest.

We need to get back to feeling good at home against tough opponents.

If any of the regular posters here are on the fan bus, I'd love to meet you. Let me know how to find you and I'll track you down.

Re: Albany at UVM 1/5/13

Albany and vermont posters have been very quiet about their success this year and are hesitant to say how good their teams will be. So i will do it for you. These teams will both finish within the top 3 this year and will compete for a title. Vermont will show us alot. They have Albany at home and at BU 2 days later. Should be intersting. this game will be a good indicator for other teams in the league to see where they need to be if they want to compete for the championship.

In my opinion If i was vermont i would try and shut down Iati and give black his. If Iati is going to score 15+ points with 3 to 7 3s vermont has no chance. All albany's loses come with Iati scoring less than 13 points and 3 or less 3s. DONT HELP OFF THE SHOOTER!!!!!!!!

Re: Albany at UVM 1/5/13

The Vermont game would be a great game for Jayson Guerrier to break out of his shooting slump.

2011/12 - 41 for 97 from three for 42%

2012/13 - 13 for 43 from three for 30%

Re: Albany at UVM 1/5/13

I agree with sticking tight to Iati. I believe that over half of UA's shots are off a drive ending with a layup or kickout for 3. The drivers, Black and Hooley, usually draw a lot of fouls, so playing good clean D on them is important. Nobody has kept them out of the lane so far, but that would be the ideal.

Except that's exactly how Vermont guards. Team defense. Help and rotate. We'll see what happens.

I do agree, we need to contain Iati to have a chance to win.

Expect to see a lot of zone defense from UVM.
