I agree on O'Day, but this was not a good team for Crenca to be playing against. Big fella was the last man down the court trailing the play by a good margin tonight. Terriers far too quick for Big Ben to be in there.

No excuse for any of the other Cats forwards- O'Day/Rugg/Apfeld can all run the floor well.

Dom Morris has really turned things around. Hope Travis Robinson is back soon. Slider, did you hear/see anything more on the injury?

Re: UVM @ BU 1/8/13

Apfeld seems to have been out of it tonight. There was a play taking the ball out of bounds when BU was pressing and there seemed to be a miscommunication between Apfeld/O'Day on who was taking the ball out- I thought we were going to turn it over.

The press really worked for BU tonight. They played really good situational basketball- and we didn't.

Voelkel seemed to be out of it tonight as well. 5 turnovers, and one of them was just losing the ball dribbling with nobody around him in the corner and then a couple others he just lost. It was weird. Very un-Voelkel like night.

It looked like he may have lost a tooth or something from where I was sitting, but who knows.

Re: UVM @ BU 1/8/13

I thought our guards- with the exception of Candon who obviously struggled and had his worst game of the season- did real well overall. Sandro was great, Blue played well, and Elbaum played solid although he didn't really do anything on offense.

The problem was our forwards:

Apfeld 0/5
Voelkel 0/4
Rugg 3/10
O'Day & Crenca 2/5

Can't really criticize O'Day- I wish he would have played more. Rugg/Apfeld/Voelkel though...can't shoot combined 3/19.

Maurice Watson finished with 7 turnovers. Knew he struggled but did not realize he turned it over that many times.

If some of our big men had just made some shots- Clancy? Luke? or Candon even shot 3/9 instead of 0-9, who knows.

I am sorry but you are the biggest idiot on this board. The kid can flat out play. I wish we could get a player like him.

Re: UVM @ BU 1/8/13

Non-basketball post, but where the heck are people parking when they come to Case? The parking lot across the street is all torn up. Certainly doesn't make me want to hurry back for a game if I have to circle the side streets for meter spots. Perhaps that's one of the reasons why there were like 25 people at the game tonight.

Way to bounce back, BU.

Also, nice to see freshman Justin Alston getting more minutes lately. If he really can hang at this level it would be a big help to a depleted frontcourt.

Because 5 minutes of one game represents who a player is entirely... to someone who'd never seen them play before, both Watson and Voelkel look awful today, is either accurate? No...

Re: UVM @ BU 1/8/13

I'd just like to give a shout out to Sandro Carissimo last night for putting the team on his back and keeping us in the game. I know it was a losing effort but he played so calm and great on offense and really frustrated Watson on defense as well.

Looking at our stats on the season, it's really hard to believe Apfeld and Rugg have almost as many 3pt attempts as Sandro- but that's what it is.

A one-game look is pretty silly, but I've seen Watson 4-5 times now and my impression is that of course he's talented but in no way is he a worthy of a "ESPN Top 100" recruit. Although, nobody can really say what that even means so discussing it is almost a waste and just message board fodder anyways.
Main point is he's definitely at the right level and like a lot of freshman, has a ton of work to do.

I think his quickness/speed has also been way overhyped. He's definitely quick but honestly it's nothing extraordinary- especially when you look outside the AE.

And of course, I'd still take him at UVM in a second.

Mo had 3 turnovers in the last minute of the game - thank goodness we were already up by double-digits.
Like any freshman, he is going to be very inconsistent - some real bonehead plays mixed with flashes of brilliance. And brilliance for Mo Watson are when he gets to show off ridiculous court vision with some truly awesome passes. Stuff I have never seen at BU and which you only see at the high levels. As he matures and cuts down on the boners, I believe he will live up to much of the hype.

Plus he has a tremendous attitude, a real leader, and he's not a bad shooter either.
