Regarding Luke Apfeld, there will be a release coming out probably on Monday. The rumor does not sound good. I very much doubt it's a day to day type thing. My, pure speculation based on the rumor is, maybe he'll be back by March.

Re: AE Gameday 1/12/13

Overall, very solid win for UA...Mike Black dominated with 28pts, 4rb and 4ast. Iati hit a few longs ones...we held our own on the boards (-4) and limited them to 41% shooting from the field. I'll take it..my biggest concern with UA and where they continue to be a work in progress is on the defensive end and rebounding...

Re: AE Gameday 1/12/13

Maine loses to Albany 76-63. Close game in the first half 31-29. Maine gives up 45 second half points. Terrible defensive effort. Mike Black drops in 28 for Albany. Maine can't shoot from the outside of 15 feet. 5 for 20 from 3, why?? Fraser 12 attempts Allison 4. Maine's shot selection is highly suspect. Mesghna had an off night, only 2 for 8. Maine is getting nothing from the bench yet again. I'm puzzled as to why Woodward has not looked to Coronel or Valjarevic with some of the starters struggling? I believe there is some talent sitting on the bench, but the coaching staff has not developed it. Edwards is obviously still sick. He has not had his normal energy the last 2 games. Telling stat: 6 assists and 14 turnovers for Maine. Maine doing a poor job sharing the basketball. The half court offense has very little rhythm or flow. Maine once again gets out schemed and out coached.

IDK what the rumor is, but John Fantino of the BFP reported on twitter that Becker noted that Luke will be out at least a couple of weeks with a "lower leg injury". Shin splints perhaps? Either way, a big loss for UVM, hopefully Rugg will keep playing well.

I certainly see how this could be lost on people from BU and UMBC though.

You're not really going to notice the two BU students near the band at case yelling at the ref.
LOL. So we have 1,000 gray haired seniors citizens with walkers and canes yelling at the refs. I was at UVM for 4 years buddy. There are as few UVM students at the games as UMBC or BU students. I wouldn't be was quick to put down other schools fan base. Students are way more into hockey than hoops up here.

Whoosh, that's the sound of my point flying over your head.

Nothing to do with the ages of any of the fans, senior citizens or 3 year old babies, when you have 2,000+ home fans in a small gym passionately into a game you're going to hear home fans get on the refs via the video feed.

You're not going to hear that from the two people at Case yelling, aka the 300-500 fans at Case.

And it was UMBC anyways- look how many times they fouled, it's because they can't play defense and are the worst defensive team, or one of the worse defensive teams in the conference. Hacks on hacks on hacks all over the place.

Ouch. Don't like the sounds of that.

Unfortunately, not very surprised as Luke hasn't been playing like himself for a few games now. At the BU game the other night you could tell something was obviously wrong/ailing him.

Well, just lost our captain and leading scorer for an extended period of time. Let's see where we can go from here now.

LoL- I guess that's fair. I hope you're not an NBA fan too though- you would hate going to a Celtics game

Exactly right on your part. Go to Maryland-Duke games and listen to the students chant Fu*k Duke loudly and repeatedly. UVM is tame compared to most other places, except BU and others like it of course. The old adage if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there does it make a sound is applicable.

Yeah, but I bet UVM will miss not going to that empty gym next year..........

NO. UVM always wants to play in the arena not the gym. I will miss playing BU twice a year. I hope they do home and home.

Re: AE Gameday 1/12/13

Yeah, I think we've lost the last couple away BU games at Case but have had a lot more success at Agganis, where it's even more cavernous and basically a neutral site.

But, hopefully we can continue to play BU wherever the game is played in Boston.

Re: AE Gameday 1/12/13

UVM is the only rivalry that BU has in the AE. Hopefully it will continue. With the rest of the AE teams, either BU was good and they were not, or vice versa. I don't see BU playing the others that often.

You need two teams to be good together for a few years to have a rivalry - Coppenrath vs Rashad Bell/Chaz Carr era. Before that it was BU butting heads with Drexel every year in the AE - Tunji Awojobi vs Malik Rose.
