Retiring the number of an all time great
Maybe this isn't the best way to go about asking the question. But I'll propose it here anyways. I'm new to the AE and don't have the greatest knowledge of past players.
But it seems as if every very school in the conference has had their share of great players. My question is how many schools have had a run of 5 or more consecutive losing seasons, and then recruit a player who led them to 3 regular season championships* during his tenure there? This guy has newly acquired records to long to list, awards piled up, and and the team working towards the NCAA tourney this year. You guys have more insight on the topic then I do. It's just that all my friends from the band and I are wondering...has TB done enough to get his number retired and hung from the rafters? SBpatriot and OBW, I'm wondering what you and everyone else thinks the chances are? A few have us have even considered starting an online petition we could send to Fiore after we get a couple thousand votes. |

Re: Retiring the number of an all time great
As a UNH fan I couldn't tell you. In case you've never been to Lundholm, there are precisely .... zero ... things hanging in there. No retired numbers, no winning anything. Not for over 100 years. So sorry, can't help you about how winning teams with good players go about showing that.

Right now UVM basketball is the class of the AE and has been for the past 10 years. What else is there to say after that? |

If TB leads them to the championship this year, that means while he's been there SBU will have either won the regular season or made it to the championship game 4 out of his 5 years here.

Re: Retiring the number of an all time great
Winning the AE once wouldnt make you the class of the AE let alone a regular season game. I did not say "no SBU player should have their number retired because none have reached the NCAA tourney." I said that IF that was a requirement NO seawolf would have their number retired. See the difference? It's called reading comprehension. I brought it up because someone mentioned that it was the 1 thing holding Tommy back from having his number retired.
SB basketball is currently in it's 52nd year not 13th. I'm sorry if you dont understand comparing UVM's D1 history to SB's D3. That's the only way you can compare the two's history. UVM's path to success is a lot different than SB. We went from a school that had no interest in basketball to finally getting over the hump and becoming successful. I like that UVM is a very old college. Back when UVM started playing basketball it was an entirely different world compared to today. SB had to come up from being a D3 basketball team. I would never trade UVM's presuccess history for SB's nor would I ever want UVM to be a D3 school. |
