It's a statement game for SBU--hence why I placed them as 3.5 favorites. Done deal.

The only question left is whether or not SBU will be flying into Dayton for the PIG or the real start of the Dance, since Salty pointed out that's where the opening round games are being held

Look how excited everyone is getting for a regular season game lol...this is just another day in the office up in Burlington.

What's interesting is this will be the first real conference test for Stony Brook- 3 homes games and the 1 away game but it was Binghamton. Vermont is going to finish up its series with Albany before SBU evens plays Albany once.

It's an important game but at this point in the season, w/l here for either squad won't be predictive of much.

I will say, kudos to the conference for having this game on ESPNU- should be a fun one, great game for the conference to have on TV.

It is an exciting game. But, I agree, that w/l here wont mean much. Last year we were top of regular season standing, but ended up watching the NCAA tourney from the comfort of living room.
I would be happy if we win, and not lose hope if we lose. But I really hope we win the AE tourney this year. And I see only UVM capable of stopping us in March from going to the dance. So game against them naturally has added excitement, even if its in January.

You guys were a Dallis Joyner crazy miracle 12ft "tip-in" from maybe getting bounced in the tournament last year against Albany. UVM needed double-OT against Hartford b/c Andres Torres wanted to keep playing and played out of his mind.

It's March, anything can happen- and it usually does. I wouldn't say only "X" team will be able to beat us- UVM had the conference regular season title locked up last season then slept-walked against 0-26 Binghamton.

Exactly. In 03-04 BU was being talked about as an 11 seed by ESPN, they were ranked 28th in the country - not mid-major poll but country - in voting in the coaches and AP Polls, they went 17-1 in conference play and the NCAA's were a forgone conclusion... then they lost in the AE quarterfinals to a Stony Brook squad that won something like 6 games all year and had as many walk-ons as scholarship players on its roster... nothing is certain in March.

I heard from a source in Burlington that the UVM players are making up fake internet girl friends who will all come down with some form of tragedy in the next 24 hours to drum up sympathy and get the team super motivated to play SB. Many of you Catamount groupies are much closer than I am to the situation. Can you confirm this for me?

real test? we just beat BU by 30 who beat vermont by 10. This isnt the first conference test but it will come down as the ultimate test.

not for nothing but SBU has always had trouble playing at binghamton. Last year they beat them by 6 up there. and vermont lost at binghamton. Beating Binghamton at binghamton is an accomplishment for SBU teams.

You played BU at home in your elementary school gym and we played BU on the road, definite difference there.

Stony Brook is not a very good match-up for BU and we caught them on a night when they happened to play superb and you happened to play them on a night when they couldn't make a shot.

Yes when you lose the other team always played superb and when we win the other team couldn't make a shot. So which one will it be Friday? Will we just play superb or will UVM not be able to make a shot
