Basketball doesn't work that way. We lost to Bing last year, so was Bing better than we were? No.

Re: Stony Brook @ Vermont 1-18
You have no clue what you are talking about. People have commented on how UVM fans never give the other team credit when we lose and that we always chalk it up to what we didn't/can't do. I come to expect this out of most SB fans.

Re: Stony Brook @ Vermont 1-18
guys BU was picked by the coaches to finish 3rd. vermont first and SBU second. BU was a test for vermont. Vermont failed the test. BU was then a test for SBU. SBU passed with flying colors. Vermont SBU will be a test for both teams and will most likely show who will be the league favorite and #1 seed. you can say all you want BU was superb against vermont and BU went cold against SBU or SBU's defense was lights out. No matter how you slice it vermont failed the test. Remember last year when Vermont won the championship and SBU shot 29%? Did any vermont fans acknowledge SBU's bad shooting? no it was because Vermont's defense was outstanding.
The fact remains with vermont being the preseason #1 pick, defending champ, returned a bulk of guys, and at home they should win this game. SBU has lost the past 2 years at vermont in blow out fashion. This is more of a test for SBU than it is vermont. |

[/QUOTE] Oh- don't worry, it was a combination of both ![]() UVM played great D but SBU couldn't buy a basket either and had a dreadful shooting game. Neither could Vermont, really. But SBU was prone to bad shooting because Dougher couldn't buy a shot for SBU down the stretch last season and really killed you guys, and Coley is about as streaky as streak shooters get.

Also Coley and Dougher choking in the championship was mentioned many times by people from about every team in the AE. That may be an exaggeration but it's a lot closer to the truth than no one mentioning SB's bad shooting. It was def a Coley and Dougher choke job. Any good defense makes players play bad. |

Re: Stony Brook @ Vermont 1-18
Kam Mitchell does not have to sit out a year. He will begin next season with 4 years of eligibility. He has never played for another college nor has he enrolled at another Division 1 institution. He originally committed to wagner but hurley left so he de-committed and committed to SBU. I think SBU was out of scholarships at the time so he chose to come this semester rather than pay his own way a full year.

Re: Stony Brook @ Vermont 1-18
Thanks for the info on Mitchell.
BTW, there are only 3 men's D1 basketball games tomorrow night in the whole universe, so UVM/SBU is likely to have a lot more viewers than normal. I'm hoping for a game where neither team "loses" to the other. In the last week or so there have been some of these (NCS/Duke, IU/UW come to mind) and they not only entertain, but show the conference at its best. |

Re: Stony Brook @ Vermont 1-18
I expect we will see Brenton and Voelkel guarding each other at least for a portion of the game. My reasoning is that both players have a penchant for getting under the skin of the opposing players most important guy. I think both fans would agree that Brenton and Voelkel are the most important players on their respective teams. Hopefully Brian can keep his cool; he can let his emotions get the best of him.
