Again, my point wasn't to highlight or stick this in peoples face like SBU fans do every time they take a $%it...At the time of the win some looked at it with skepticism saying, how good can Washington really be? So as the results continue to roll in, the answer is...pretty good.

NIT appearance is better than any regular season win. I would rather be the best regular season team in the AE than win 1 game against a bcs team. Maybe a top 25 team would be an exception. UVM did beat 14 ranked BC a few years back.

Everybody plays for a national championship every year. With smaller conferences it starts with winning your conference championship. NIT appearance is rewarded for winning the regular season. While it's not your ideal ending it is still an accomplishment because it means you won the regular season.

You also dont play for regular season wins but you certainly will take them.

Yeah, good post. Both are great accomplishments. I think the NIT bid, while obviously not what you are shooting for, is a good thing for mid major schools.

In the AE, getting to the NIT is a bitter-sweet thing. You have to lose the tourney after winning the regular season in order to get there. And once you are there, nobody much cares except your fan base. Still, compared to the pointed stick....

The A10 is a different animal. The winner of the regular season for the A10 gets an at large big anyways. I can't see how it would mean anything to any A10 team.

Comes from a Dayton-Xavier pissing match (one of many) where UD thought their winning the NIT was better than Xavier going to the Sweet 16 and losing.

It's amazing how "relative" things are. For some guys just looking at the SI swimsuit models is sufficient, but for a few only a week in Aruba will do.
