Binghamton (would live there only if I was sent to prison)
There's the "cold and snowy" Orono thing again..........wake me up when palm trees start growing in Burlington (or Durham, Boston, Hartford, Albany and Binghamton for that matter).

Only 2 that truly have milder weather are Stony Brook (mostly ocean effect) and Baltimore (obviously much further South than the rest of the league).

Re: What AE city would you want to live in.

I go 2 hours north and I feel a major difference in the weather/temp. I'm living in southern NH right now. That 2 hours difference is enough for me to not want to move up north in any way. You can say the same thing about Burlington. It just has enough going on to almost make you forget about it. If people said Burlington is too cold and snowy for them to want to live there I would agree.

Burlington is arctic in the winter, but summers in Burlington are the absolute best.

The fall looks amazing as well. Right around the first week of September.

2. Burlington- If there were an abundance of jobs in my industry I'd move there tomorrow, but since my industry in fact doesn't exist in Vermont, don't think I'm moving back up there anytime soon. LOVE Burlington though. My ideal situation if I were to move back to VT would be to have a primary home in Burlington and then build a home on the lake somewhere in the Champlain Islands so have a place to spend the summer and be close to Montreal as well.

3. Hartford- Not the most exciting place, but I could live in West Hartford. Nice place to live with a family IMO and nice homes are very affordable relative to NYC/Boston similar communities.

4. Long Island- Not my first choice, but I could live there given proximity to NYC.
I live in the Islands..... You couldn't drag me away.....

Re: What AE city would you want to live in.

I spent my first 18 years in northern Virginia and so far my second 18 years in Burlington. I still struggle getting through January and February (we are expecting between 0 and -10 tonight) but between May and October this city is a jewel. In the summer months there is literally a festival every weekend on the Waterfront. This fall I was able to bike from my house to watch Grace Potter and the Nocturnals play an outdoor waterfront show as the sun was setting behind the Adirondacks.

1. Burlington
2. Boston
3. Baltimore
4. Durham
5. Hartford
6. Long Island
7. Bangor
8. Albany
9. Binghamton

Only reason I have Binghmaton higher than Bangor is the proximity to friends and family in the NYC area. Boston, Baltimore and Burlington are clear 1-2-3 for me. Burlington drops to 3 because of Winter and location. It is an awesome town. I have Stony Brook above Albany just because of proximity to the ocean and NYC. I have been in Albany for 15 years and it is a good place to live but I miss the ocean. Hartford is a clear 6 and Durham is a clear 7.

I want to live in Bangor just for tonight!

After beating vermont there should be alot of partying - I just hope I don't run into a Moose on my way home!

Binghamton is magical place where you feel like you are going back in time. The other reason is that I ranked it higher than bangor is not so isolated. If we are talking about Portland, then it is in contention for top 3 on the list.

Well take a look at who is on tour these days..........

1. Bieber & his bubble gum wannabes
2. Country
3. Dinosaurs

That's about it these days. Sting is also playing Mohegan Sun and Boston on this tour (but not Binghamton or Burlington)

I wouldn't expect Sting to show up in Vermont because nobody would go to see that. Vermonters know their music, especially Burlington.
