Re: What AE city would you want to live in.
I don't think it's a p*ssing contest, I was just making fun of the idea Bangor was a desirable place because Sting played a concert there. Bringing up Phish is just silly, especially when Maine had like 60,000+ people for a couple of their large concerts in the state.

Re: What AE city would you want to live in.
The list of concerts that played there last year was very impressive and drew tons of people:
Staind/Godsmack Gary Allan Zac Brown Band Beach Boys Shinedown/Papa Roach Rascal Flatts/Little Big Town REO Speedwagon/Styx/Ted Nugent Barenaked Ladies/Blues Traveler/Cracker Def Leppard/Poison/Lita Ford Big Time Rush Keith Urban Jason Aldean/Luke Bryan Journey/Loverboy/Pat Benatar Switchfoot There were a few others but I didn't post them... For a community like Bangor, that is a pretty big list of premier concerts.

Re: What AE city would you want to live in.
It's always fun to see what tangential argument will take over a thread like this. Anyone have Vermont versus Maine concert scene? I put my money down on "Baltimore: County vs. City". I thought I'd hedge by placing a little on "Where's Vestal?" but that also missed it by a mile.

I'm not even a big Phish fan, though they are undeniably talented musicians. It's pretty silly to downplay Phish' impact though, consider the crowds they have drawn to their concerts is the same as what the Superbowl draws.

Higher Ground gets a lot of current musicians, that's one venue to check out.

Re: What AE city would you want to live in.
Burlington gets music on par or better than Portland, clearly better than anything around Orono.
I'm only listing cities I've been to: Boston Burlington Albany Baltimore Durham Hartford . . . . Binghamton |

What music, groups, singers are you talking about in particular? Better to you may not be better to someone else...depends on taste in music. I assume you are talking about local bands that play live in the clubs & pubs?
