Re: What AE city would you want to live in.
Burlington gets a ton of bands at higher ground that I like, then in the summer sometimes get bands a little bigger downtown. I will say that nowhere in Vermont is good for really large acts.
I wasn't considering how the state theater has been back open in Portland for a couple years now. Maybe it's as good. |

Re: What AE city would you want to live in.
Binghamton music scene is pretty lame, here and there you get some good bands coming to the Arena or BU (and cyber cafe for you local junkies). But we are only an hour from Ithaca, NY which is a really hip town with great music. Not alot of big names but great local music which I find better then a lot of big label artists. Anybody who spent a lot of time in Ithaca would probably agree with me.

And if so, that was definitely NOT what the whole point was in the first place...was all about the major, national touring acts. Sure, Orono/Bangor doesn't have a lot when it comes to that, but Portland is GREAT when it comes to those local shows. The Old Port is loaded with live music every weekend.

+1 Ithaca is Gorges. It's also a pretty awesome town.

For me, it really wasn't so much Durham itself, though I like small town living. What does it for me is it's proximity to the coast/Portsmouth/Maine coast, Boston, the mountains & lakes of NH, etc. It's a perfect little New England town.

In fact, when you are talking UNH and Maine........you are really talking about Portsmouth and Bangor........not Durham and Orono. How can you compare those small college towns to cities like Burlington, Albany, Hartford, Baltimore, Boston...........? |

Yeah these are the reasons. I rated it based on living there but I'd probably never actually live in Durham, I'd probably live in Portsmouth if I moved to the area.

Re: What AE city would you want to live in.
I think the surrounding area should count for where you live. It shouldnt count for as much as the immediate area but anyone should go enjoy what the surrounding areas has to offer.
