Re: AE Gameday 1/23
Tommy Brenton is an enforcer.
Enforcer-one whose job it is to execute unpleasant tasks for a superior. I have no problem with Tommy Brenton's actions over the years. He's not there to hold Chase Plummer's (or anyone else's) hand. After Chase was bullied down low, Plummer was chucking threes and taking rushed inside shots. Not a coincidence. Dirty- malicious, unethical, corrupt Ben Dickinson liked to throw elbows when his team was down by twenty-five points. Tommy Brenton makes aggressive plays to benefit his TEAM, not his temper. I haven't seen a Brenton play that was "unethical". Just my opinion as an unbiased observer of Brenton.

Re: AE Gameday 1/23
If we find a way to lose to BU in the tournament, that would be something.

Re: AE Gameday 1/23
There are more Siena fans than Albany fans. The capital district has a lot of front running fans. Today was first day of classes and there was a good student turnout tonight. If the arena is full, it will be loud. The 2006 Ae championship game was one of the loudest sporting events I ever attended.

Re: AE Gameday 1/23
I don't disagree that there won't be 4500 ua fans. I bet if UA and UVM played in a tournament semi there would be 4500 people but they won't be all UA fans. I would bet there would be a good 700-1000 UVM people there. If it was a straight up UA home game, you bet your ass there would be 4500 UA fans, but for the AE Tournament, I'm not sure about the exact number but the UA ticket office can NOT just sell to UA people. In the past, obviously UVM fans travel well and mostly buy the all sessions ticket package. Last year I remember talking to the UVM ticket manager and they sold over 600 all sessions packages to UVM fans in Hartford. That doesn't count the single game ticket holders. That was quite a semi. One of the best college bball games I've been to. There were about 1000 UVM fans and the Hartford fans filled the student section which was usually empty in the other tourney games and the rest of the arena was packed, it was loud (plus double OT).
Anyway, to end my small tangent, UVM fans travel well and while they traveled real well to Hartford the past 3 years, I've gotta believe more fans will make the trip to Albany cause its closer to Burlington and a lot of fans are used to making this trip as its often a bus with us package and is a much easier ride down. So 4500 fans yes, but not all albany. |

Re: AE Gameday 1/23
They actually didn't. They made tongue in cheek remarks about his "Golden Globe" performances. That was pretty much it.

Re: AE Gameday 1/23
Yup. Frank Sullivan is usually the analyst. He works for the AE.

Re: AE Gameday 1/23
Great win for BU they stormed back and yes DJ Irving did a Reggie Miller on UA.
In about a 15 second span Mike Black made 4 consecutive Free Throws to give UA a 6pt lead 63-57 with 15 seconds to go. DJ Irving buries a Three and BU get a timeout with 8.5 seconds to go. Out of the TO Sam Rowley throws a suspect pass which is knocked away from Black in a scramble and somehow DJ buries a three from deep to send it to OT. How about this in OT BU outscore UA 22-17 (5 minutes) with Papale going for 11. It was like old ABA action. BU did not miss a shot from the field in OT BU hit their final 7 three point attempts after shooting 7 of 24 previously during the game Great win for BU VERY tough loss for UA. It's the 3rd time out of UA's 5 losses that the final poseesion of regulation coast them. Loyola converted a 3 point play off a deflected 90 pass. "Q" scored a follow up bucket after the shot clock went off and one official ruled it had grazed the rim and the basket counted and then last nights nightmare. |

Re: AE Gameday 1/23
Have to give a lot of credit to DJ Irving. Following the box score online, he was held without a FG for pretty much most of the game, but he stuck with it and finished real strong.
As for Papale- he's just an awesome shooter.
