I actually like how we match up against SB. I am more scared of Hartford or BU than SB. Speed kills us. SB does not have that.

I wouldnt call being up 18 points with less than 10 minutes left lucky. I guarantee SB is more scared of UVM than UVM being scared of SB.

Or maybe.....We really do not want the #1 seed so we can embarrass you on your home court again? I can not get in Beckers head but that could be why he is telling his team "hey let's go out there and let them hang with us, we will win some, loose some BUT we want SB on their home court again"....just sayin'

The scary thing is in my mind this just could be true. Becker could also take it so far as to throw the regular season game to make sure Vt gets to play SB at SB in the champ game lol. Until we win that one - there will always be an undertone of.... (cant think of the word - its right on the tip of my tongue)

Looking back at the play by play UVM held Hartford at the 36 point mark for 9 minutes. They scored at 14:04 to go up 36-28. Their next points were on Nwakammas free throws at 5:19. They were held for 11 minutes til their next FG was by Cole bringing them to 40 pts with 3:05 minutes to play. That is bad offense or good defense.

Well you do know that UVM won the championship game last season so this would make sense. SB needs to get past UVM in order to make it to the NCAA so I'm sure they think highly of Vermont and they are probably hungry for a win but I don't know if scare is the right term. Lets see how it goes at the Prit. I'm sure this SBU team can bounce back and beat Vermont at home. No doubt

Huh? I think most people who follow the America East would agree Stony Brook is the most athletic team in the conference.

I don't think so. BU and UHa are faster on their feet, at least. SBU defends and shoots better than either of them, so maybe that's what you're seeing.

UVM will beat SBU on the 15th because when they bring it nobody in the AE plays such good defense and there is no chance of a lack of concentration like last night's first half or at Maine.

Beating SBU at SBU is what UVM does best.

(Actually net savings of $2.95, since I was at my son's HS hockey game and the Vermont Principals' Association allows schools to charge $4 for admission. And his team lost on a last-second shot, literally (0:01 left on the scoreboard). Sounds like I still had the better time of it!)

Really? You do that best? I mean...ignoring the post-season, which is what it is, in the last 3 years UVM is 1-2 at Stony Brook, and 2-1 at UVM.

I mean, if what you do best is win 33.3% of the time...go for it. But I wouldn't exactly say we've been dominated. You guys simply won the single post-season game that mattered. Btw, that one year you did beat us in SB, we beat you guys by 22 in the conference tourney. So maybe you guys should throw the game....

Vermont being vermont. There is no way in hell that Vermont fears hartford more than they fear stony brook. no way.

BU and hartford are faster on their feet? you mean BU whom we beat by 30 and had two of the so called "best" guards shut down. one of which by our back up point guard. An another team we beat by 14. Which was 25 at one point.

In the last 9 games played against vermont SBU is 4-5. by no means dominanting. that is with a vermont win at SBU last year in the finals and a SBU thrashing in the semi's the year before...

It was some ugly basketball, but it was still entertaining- especially the second half. If you watched the Dartmouth home game this year that was far worse.

I will say this about Hartford- they would be a real tough out if the tournament was back in Hartford in a packed house with all their students. Not that I'm saying Albany wont too of course, but I would not want to play this Hawks team at home in a win-or-go home situation. Gallagher has this team believing in themselves and they are certainly confident, very different than previous Hartford squads against UVM.

Hartford is very, very quick and they played tough and physical, and the 1-3-1 with Nkwamma at the top that they flashed was disruptive and hurried us up and got us out of our offense. Shades of when we had Blakely in the 1-3-1.

And if Hartford would have shot even 25% from 3, different ball game.

Overall athleticism/size is something different, but when it comes to speed & quickness BU and Hartford lead the way and it's not even close.
