Any other recruits stick out for Albany?

How about Maine and UNH fans, any football signings you're especially excited about?

I'm not a football expert by any means, but...I read this and I have to laugh. They were interested early, but backed off because of concerns about his size? Did he shrink? Gotta think he was the same size when they were interested "earlier" as he was on signing day.

Earlier could mean Sophomore/Junior year, but not sure in this case. Maybe they thought he'd hit a growth spurt and get taller. I'd think that's pretty common in recruiting for most sports.

Re: OT: All things Purple Fam

Copied and pasted from Wikipedia - Albany dropped its club team after the 1924 season. A 46-year absence followed before the university restored the football team. Ford was appointed as the head coach on April 27, 1970 where he has remained since.[

I was born in May of 70 - so this gentleman has been head coach there for longer than ive been alive. Pushing 43 years as coach on one place definitely qualifies you as legendery. He and I have close connections - he coached at Albright College in the 60's and I took my JV basketball team there for team camp in 2002.

Re: OT: All things Purple Fam

He is 14th all time (dead or alive/coaching) in W's...#1 active coach with college football wins on any level. This being handicapped with ZERO facilities, low budgets etc. If this man only got his football stadium 15 years ago...

Your head coach is a pupil of his/his coaching tree...ask him what he thinks.

Re: OT: All things Purple Fam

Two moronic fans (not you Salty, your post was funny as heck) hitting the sauce again.

Bob Ford is a big time legend. Coaches in the pros and colleges swoon for him. All you have to do is google this to find out his touch on the game.

He is also the former AFCA President.

Guys like Bobby Bowden have been touched by Fordie.

Seriously...both of you should read before you write. Just go to the AGS Board and put a post up about Ford and you will get fans of all schools commenting on him.

But in all seriousness though: I have never heard his name mentioned outside of this board

Re: OT: All things Purple Fam

Keep on backtracking after you say something stupid. Bob For means alot...to a lot of people. I take GREAT offense when someone even remotely says a bad thing about the man.

He's as close to untouchable as that concept gets.

There was ZERO reason to talk smack...ZERO.
