A separate source of mine also says NJIT to AE but at a later time - let today be Lowell's day. Seems like now some real sources other than my anonymity on this message board are starting to confirm the UML to AE fodder...let the fun begin! Go Riverhawks!

I think that's because Put in Rickard was related to a certain coach at SBU who no longer patrols the sidelines!

Ok...I can accept Lowell at some level....BUT NJIT I shudder on the athletic side unless they plan on SERIOUSLY upgrading their athletic profile in a $$ sense.

If the dominoes fall for other football schools...I can see UNH, Maine, UA and SBU moving on.

This does not help keep those schools around. Being balls out and creating a football league would help.

Makes sense, they need a place, Great West is all but defunct and as a public they fit in with AE. They will need to add some budget when they get here and add a couple more sports but solid new destination city.

Also on the front with many complaining about not adding Bryant, they've got some integrity and are not going to dick over the conference that gave them a shot the moment they get eligible for NCAA bids. Lets go back 4 year ago, NEC was the only one who would accept them, if they tried to bolt to a conference with no football and ask that former conference who stuck it out there for them to be an associate member in that conference...forget it!

Me saying UMass-Lowell and NJIT to AE were sourced info.

However, I'll throw some speculation out here for a second. If the above two things are true (looks 99% now that UML is definitely true), my guess is that the following happens.

1. AE adds UML, Merrimack, NJIT to bring them to 11
2. SBU and UA go to CAA to bring the AE back to 9
3. CAA has north and south divisions
4. AE eventually gets 10 schools somewhere
