March Madness Trivia, Volume #6
OK, here is the latest question, and is probably a fairly easy one:
In 2001, the NCAA Tournament expanced from 64 to 65 teams. Who knows why and be specific? Hopefully everyone is liking this stuff...I tend to be a trivia fan and love these kinds of things.

Re: March Madness Trivia, Volume #6
The 16-team WAC split into two conferences, the WAC and the Mountain West. In that year, the Mountain West became eligible for an automatic bid, so rather than take one from an existing at-large team, they expanded the field by 1.

Re: March Madness Trivia, Volume #6
Both of you are correct! And with today's conference reconfiguation, how ironic is it that the WAC is horrible and barely a shell of itself. It really was a very good conference back then.
In 1999, the WAC lost the following programs: Air Force BYU Colorado State UNLV New Mexico San Diego State Utah Wyoming (History is repeating itself with the same thing happening with the Big East/C7 right now.) In 2001, they lost TCU. In 2005, they lost Rice, SMU, UTEP and Tulsa. In 2011, they lost Boise State. In 2012, they lost Fresno State, Hawai'i & Nevada. In July of this year, the WAC is going to lose the following teams (many of whom just joined in 2012): Denver (Summit League) Louisiana Tech & UT-San Antonio (Conference USA) San Jose State & Utah State (Mountain West) UT-Arlington & Texas State (Sun Belt) The WAC membership for next year: Cal State-Bakersfield Chicago State Grand Canyon Idaho (leaving in 2014 for Big Sky) UMKC New Mexico State Seattle UT-Pan American Utah Valley Talk about a conference that is on edge and always worrying about its' survival...WOW! Major instability for many years...

Re: March Madness Trivia, Volume #6
Why? Does it keep pushing your "Seawolf Pride" thread off the top post?
