St. Joes just barely beat a Drexel last night, and play #13 Gonzaga tonight. Hopefully by some miracle they can beat Gonzaga.

I think we can win this game if turnovers are limited.

I think we were down 7 or 8 and Kurt Steidl had an open three that rimmed out. That was a big miss. The turnover from TBH when we were down 6 really hurt too. We had a couple of great opportunities to get back in this one late and couldn't get over the hump.

Really disappointed in the way we played after taking the big first half lead. We just got really sloppy and made some poor decisions. The second half was a much better effort.

We need to cut down on turnovers and be stronger with the ball.

Yeah Kurt had that wide open look that did everything but go down, frustrating. It feels like so many of their turnovers are just unforced. It feels like there's been a dozen times already this year where they'd muffed a ball out of bounds while grabbing a board after a missed shot.

The rebounding margin was predictable and expected, and when you consider O'Day missed most of first half , and St. Joe's has guys like Aaron Brown- 6 '5 " SG built like a linebacker. If anyone expected us to keep pace with St. Joe's on glass, your crazy.

The bulk of the turnovers were avoidable though, and that's what did us in.

How many did we end up with? I stopped keeping track after 17.

St. Joes was credited with 13 steals.

Dre Wills was our best player on the floor today. 8 Points, 6 Rebounds, 3 Assists. He's pretty much as close to Voelkel as we're gonna get.

TBH had 4 turnovers. Not a good night for him.

Ernie Hurt and had 3 turnovers. Not much else to say there.

O'Day is O'Day. Always putting in work.

Urquhart looked good. He might be a little slower out there, but he is confident at the rim. We're gonna need him in conference play.

Harold had a good game.

I have no complaints about the refs, they didn't make us turn the ball over 18 times.

My only gripe was after we made a run and got some momentum when it was 61-56 they called I think two soft fouls that put St. Joe's at line both time. That's what happens on the road though, par for the course.

We missed a bunch of easy shots at the rim in first half- think TBH began game 0-4 FG and think they were all layups that just wouldn't fall.

I'll also add, while I like the energy BK has been showing, his turnovers were a killer tonight and he only contributed 1 board. No idea how he only grabs 1 board as tall as he is and as much as he played.

Kurt is a superior shooter/scorer and better rebounder.

This was a winnable learning experience that fell short for UVM. Nobody played awful but nobody was a super hero. SJU recovered from their Gonzaga defeat during the game and the result was about what I expected when the schedule was announced. UVM is pretty much where they should be with the new team and I expect them to build from here.

I'll tell you one thing I'm positive about after the Siena game and this game. A double digit deficit in the second half means nothing to this team, the way it can go on a quick run and put points on the board.

That first play - Duncan beautiful pass to Oday off the slip screen was basketball at its finest.

Wonder we don't run more pick and roll with ball in Ernie's hands when he is on the floor.

Turnovers are a key right now, but that is to be expected relying on so many freshmen.

We fell into playing their game. This is the sort of game last years team would have one because they would have slowed the ball down, dictated pace and gotten St. Joes' heads out of the game. Our new style of play is fun and I expect it will do well in league, but we can't play that style against more athletic ooc teams and expect to win with this many turnovers.

Still, a lot of positives and this group continues to move in the right direction. Its a process.

I'd love for it to continue. A10 teams do not come to Burlington, VT for Home /Home series. Still have no idea how they got you guys to come last season, but I'll take it.

Just saw box score, Ethan had 1 board in 29min...kinda concerning. Not going to cut it in game against St. Joe's.

Looks like everyone on team got into the turnover party- pretty spread out.

Harold had a nice game- 10pts/ 5 boards. That's what he's averaging on season thus far.

for those few people who are saying that the SVC game didnt prep for St Joes that needs to stop because it makes no difference who they would have played it likely just got you all in false confidence mode because they came off a win and have a winning record going into this game but it is the 4th game they've played come on now!
In agreement with many here turnovers stop and this team wins lots of games but i suspect we will also be saying this in January too. Also this team has learned to come back and perform and play until the end but please learn to play with a lead too a lot of that will come on Becker though sometimes his rotations still confuse me it is a minor issue but still if theycna learn to play with the lead especially against teams on their level they should be fine.
I have one thing that i fear however and this is the swami el gato speaking but my sense tells me Duncan will never be the player we believe he should and sadly I even sense that he may not finish his basketball career at UVM because of this back issue if they feel they can resolve with a redshirt that action should be taken but if this is cronic and this keeps up I never see him doing anything of significance here sad but true. It now seems to make sense how a talent like him landed here and not at a higher level Becker could take the risk on him.
Also even though Harold put up nice numbers he continues to aggrevate me a lot with many plays especially defensively or just somehthing ill advised. It is very hard because my childhood dogs name was Harold and he was a great dog who could catch the ball and hang onto it during fetch and Hector does not inspire this confidence in me haha. also Kilpatrick effort is nice but he was bad this game and he needs to turn it around because at his position it is needed.
Def liked what I saw from Steidl and hope that can stay up, Wills too.
Way I see it right now 2-2 is best case scenario where I thought this team should be at this point just swap the Siena Canisius results. This whole season is going to be day-to-day and toy with us but we keep watching because we are all psychos obviously.

Take a deep breath, we are 4 games in.

Everyone seriously needs to chill out on Duncan. Making judgements at this point without any information is silly.

Did anyone listen to why Duncan didn't re-enter in post game? For all anyone knows Becker may have just benched him after he shoved Newkirk out of frustration after stealing the ball from him, which he did.

THIS! Also I'm sure Becker was being extra cautious with him. He probably saw something from Ernie or Ernie said something to Becker. At the end of the day this isn't a bad loss. A rebuilding A-10 is ALWAYS going to be better then a rebuilding team from the AEast.

Take a look at that roster for SJU and just Google a few names that played big minutes. DeAndre Bembry is probably the best player we will face all year, goes to show why he had offers from SJU, Miami, Providence, USC just to name a few.

Being from the A-10 they had SO much more size, length and athleticism then us. We did a great job battling them though and with all of the strange lineup configurations Becker through out there nobody looked like they didn't belong. That is impressive especially with a roster full of 16 year old Justin Beiber wannabes.

We will take our lumps and bumps and get smacked around sometimes but one thing is for sure.....this team will NEVER quit on you.

I'd also add because of his back issue that's fairly obvious after watching the kid play a few games at probably 50% of what he normally is, definitely why he's not playing at a much higher level.

A 75% Duncan is still probably best PG in this conference, he is that good.
