Kid is exactly what this team needs- i.e. Someone physical, and oh by the way he's from Montreal so would be close to home.

On the flip side, Was really unimpressed by Bailey Patella from VT Academy- did not look like a D1 player to me, seemed more suited for NE-10. Granted, was only one game and it's always possible to play poorly but I didn't see a ton of skills there. Size and athleticism intriguing but looks like he has a long way to go.
Hopefully UVM can keep identifying talent and we can pluck it away from y'all (Ian Sistare :P). Jerome has some old offers from BCS programs but it looks like Ivy/Patriot schools are recruiting him mainly now.

Does anyone think we have a chance at getting Robin Duncan? Looks like he recently had 17pts/18rbs/8ast in a game. Plus he's 6'4" as a sophomore!

I'm sure we would have a chance to keep the Duncan pipe-line going! I would imagine the staff can recognize talent though and not just the last name

So he's a 6'4" sophomore PG? What happens if he ends up being 6'8" ? lol

Looks like we have an offer out to Geo Baker, a PG out of Boston.

Holds offers from BU, LIU Brooklyn, George Mason and many others.

This has been out for a while, not sure if it had been mentioned or not.

Baker is actually from Derry, NH, and attends a prep school in central New Hampshire. UNH and a bunch of other A-East, Colonial, MAAC, NEC, and Patriot League Schools have offered. He is very thin, but very active and athletic. Probably a combo guard at the D1 level.

Thanks, just saw on VC that his hometown was Boston...my bad.

Have you seen him play? Looks like he has pretty long arms but needs to fill out some.

Baker would probably be an impact scorer in AE, but he potentially could go as high as A10.

Not in person, just highlights. He is very thin and has a somewhat low release on his jump shot. Definitely athletic. Not sure what position he will play at the D1 level, might be kind of a "tweener".

UNH offered him very early before his junior season, so they must really like him. He has at least 15 D1 offers total, so these recruiters must really like what they're seeing. We'll see what level he ends up at and if those A-10 and Colonial schools are considering him a top target or just a fallback option.

Re: 2017 America East Recruiting Thread

Per Adam Finkelstein New Hampton (NH) junior swingman Anthony Gaines picked up an offer from Vermont

Good looking 3 star SG with offers from Siena, Niagara, George Washington and St. Bonnies.

Re: 2017 America East Recruiting Thread

With over 50% of the schools on this kid being part of the Lonergan/Patsos/Becker trio I was wondering why that might be? We see it often where the recruiting of players overlaps. Is it a competition thing? Is it a "type" they all like for their learned styles of coaching? Is it a character thing? Is it that these former/current buddies attend events, see the same things and discuss players together? Is this kid the nephew of another acquaintance of theirs?

AAU trumps all. Albany City Rocks.

Siena = local.
GW = Carmen Maciariello, former Siena/City Rocks coach.
UVM = Tibbs, ex-City Rocks coach.

Plus, doesn't Lamb play for City Rocks?

Maybe the long-awaited NHS pipeline will finally happen. (Kyle Cieplicki's brother Sam is on staff at New Hampton School and coached their Varsity B team until recently. He was also a PG at NHS.)

That explains this instance but I notice the overlap often. Not usually all 3 but I see Vermont/Siena and Vermont/GW frequently

I expect that trio of Catholic coaches be in on the same kids...same networks, same regions, same coaching staffs pretty much.

Begs the interesting question, Does anyone know what the relationship is like between Becker and Lonergan these days? I know it was pretty icy when Lonergan took Kopriva with him to GW, and also when Lonergan recommended Turner over Becker, and in turn GW was the only school in the country we denied Four to transfer to....

My ideal scenario is that Lonergan, since he's such an unbelievable recruiter, would maybe point some of the kids that wouldn't fit the A10 the best towards Vermont- or even some of the bench GW kids that might be exploring a transfer, towards UVM. But if he and Becker aren't pals anymore then I doubt that is the case.
