Re: Vermont HS BBall prospect discussion

well it could be wording sounds like most people saying offered a spot on team. that not always = scholarship. if people say that he is to pay own way for one year as a redshirt that technically not an offer in the tradiational sense.

This and it prove that AJ Kennell reads this site and publishes false info on the reg. Hello AJ! learn some journalist integrity if you happen to be wrong?
I kind of feel bad for Ben it is one of those thing this is a high traffic forum and while always lot of misinfo in recruiting he is a local kid and it put magnifying glass on him to have to deal with stuff like this that not really his fault
I for one say that I do hope he end up on UVM one way or other. Feel he help team down the line and would work hard for the shirt that says Vermont on front.

I think given how much he's improved each year and continues to improve it's a good fit. High ceiling, explosive guard, and can really step into that role off the bench or however they use him. I think him sitting a year or playing a year of prep is what he needs (consistent high level of competition). It comes down to how bad he'll want it; off season preparation and judging by what i've seen so far I think he'll do well at the next level.

Future Plot twist: Kendrick Gray goes to UVM lol.. just a fun thought

Stick to hot red sox takes and calling the action on air AJ and leave the reporting to aabrami at the free press.

yes - would think he have direct access to sources aka coaches to tell him yes or no if not shame on him. feel for Ben he cannot control that if it is not true
If AJ reporting info he reads here on boards hes a joke. if you reporting any info on a place that tolerate me, you a joke! haha!

I'd be very surprised if his info was coming from this message board, considering he has access to the coaching staff, and off-the-record confirmations of offers/commits is often how this gets done (coaches can't comment publicly, as we all know). Also, with how little he reports about recruiting news, it's not like he's under pressure to "break" news and chase a lead that isn't there. Nobody really asks that of him.

Somebody's right here, somebody isn't. Wouldn't be the first time someone got bad info about recruiting.

Worrying about whether we offered or didn't offer Shungu seems like it should be low on the list of things to worry about. If we did offer or will offer great then he's earned it and a talented player I'd love to have- but still doesn't change my view from another thread that we need to be out recruiting higher level targets/potential impact players.

I'm pretty sure he does read here though. I've listened to a few pre-game shows on the way to the game and he will say things like "critics say..." and he goes on to repeat things I've seen mentioned here that are critiques.

As for Shungu, truth probably is somewhere in the middle. I don't think that info surfaces out of nowhere, but perhaps the wording, or how we define offer in the recruiting sense is different. Offer to join the team doesn't necessarily imply that a scholarship offer was received. Could argue the semantics for days, really. Seems like AJ simply jumped the gun, because he doesn't get "scoops" too often.

Re: Vermont HS BBall prospect discussion

The initial report was that he'd have to walk-on and redshirt his first season, so he could have been offered a "recruited/preferred walk-on" situation and not full scholarship. No idea.

Please explain to me uvm4life20 how that is called lying? Valid from what you've heard? Or the part that includes red shirting? Or the someone can educate me on that per different scenarios. Maybe you buy into this forum too much. Point is I'm sure Aj "heard" from a source that he was being offered but point blank if I'm a credible reporter/newscaster I'm going to make sure my sources are confirmed. My belief was, there were terms. You decide how you want to define "offer"

Evidentally we'll hear more about this because I'm sure BFP will break the story after all the details have been gathered.

Your right lying technically is purposely giving false info. Mainly I was giving you shit. But you did say a source told you this. Two media are having conflicting reports right now. Should your source be wrong I hope you will not report any more info coming from this person.

I personally think if a kid has to pay for his own redshirt for one year it's an offer. I think a delayed offer is a good term.

If it's a walk on spot it should say offered a walk on spot

Emphasis on "heard" and not told. Some members of the coaching staff were out at a bar and myself personally happened to recognize Paul Pecor being an ear shot away from them hence where I got the red shirting reference. Like you stated the term "offer" is in question. I don't have any sources lol I hear, and share and open for debate.

Looks like if you went to the Rice-MAU game, Jonas Parker sat most of it because of foul trouble, and Shungu played days after having his wisdom teeth pulled: http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/s...hony/78920922/
