2016 - 2017 Vermont Catamounts

This seemed like a good time to start on thread on the next Catamount season.

To kick-start this thread, some quick questions:

-with a new AD on the way, will the fan experience and safety at Patrick Gym be improved and more students will take interest in the program?

-if everyone returns, at least one of the 2 Tulane guys is good for 10/5 and Anthony Lamb is as good as advertised, are we looking at a top 2 contender and another 20+ win season?

- with a new Coach to be named soon, will good things start happening with the women's basketball team?

Carry on............

No excuses next year. This should be the #1 seed and NCAA representative next year. If we fall short, barring injuries and transfers, then it should be viewed as a failure. It's been five years and we've missed some opportunities. Can't do it next year, compared to the rest of the league we are loaded.

Re: 2016 - 2017 Vermont Catamounts

It's going to be a very interesting year...

Have consistently heard Henson has the ability to be a significant contributor...ultra athletic and skilled. 14-15 ppg and 7-8 reb would not be a surprise to me (Fjeld'esque, different players, similar potential).

My guess is TBH, Henson, and Kurt may see the most minutes, but that really doesn't matter (who starts/plays the most). That's what I love about this team, they're really pulling together despite running out of minutes to pass around...they get it. Should be a very exciting year, hopefully the type of year that will result in sellouts again and an upset or two.

We'll find out how bad this team wants it, if they refocus defensively there's enough talent to make some noise!

Trae Bell Haynes' floater should be showcased in the NCAA Tournament.

It is a thing of beauty.

How many months do I have to wait to start hearing of bits and pieces of the OOC schedule being announced?

Re: 2016 - 2017 Vermont Catamounts

Uvm did a great job updating their history and records for men's basketball. Some interesting stats I haven't touched upon yet.
Dre wills is 3rd all time in fg% right now.
Steidl is top 10 in ft%.
Last year we played the most games 37, scored and let up most points, shot and made the most field goals, and committed the most fouls. I guess we had legit gripes about reffing. It was the worst year ever for calls against us.
we shot 40% from 3 as a team a couple years back.
The one issue with their history and records is they need to FIX the single season rebounds per game leaders. Chris holm should be 4th with 12.2 and Kevin Roberson 5th with 11.1 for a single season.

I got you. These games are figured out from contracts we have with teams.

Grab your tickets
Vs Yale- 10th season in a row we will play them.
At Marist- return game.
Vs Dartmouth- every year
Vs Northeartern- return game
Vs Harvard- 6th year in a row we will play them.

Probables
At Siena- we played them 6 times in a row all wins. I believe we have them for two more years.
Vs Eastern Michigan- we should get a home game for playing them last year.
At Quinnipiac- We played them 10 times in a row.

Maybes
Vs St Bonnie's- possible return game.
Vs Non D1 yearly game. I think we could skip this as we have 5 quality home games and a possible 6th with st Bonnie's. One of these will be our 6th and final.

6 home games is about max a school like us will get. We will most likely head on the road for the rest to secure home games for the season after. We play at Hartford and at Quinnipiac for Payen and Steidls senior year. I also think we will head out to Indiana again for wills senior year and and to be closer to speidel.

Potentially better home OOC vs this year. Not sure if EMich and St.Bonnie will play here, don't know how that is negotiated. Yale and Northeastern will be nice games.

Should be a good year. Henson is very good from what I hear. Not sure what a new AD can do to get more students to attend games, always been an issue. Will be interesting to see results of the Arena study with South Burlington, due Aug. 15 I think, but they need to address the bleachers at Patrick asap, regardless of the time frame for the Arena.

I believe Dre's Indiana game will be at Butler. I also believe Eastern Michigan is coming to Patrick.
