Huge win, congrats!

Re: OT: 2016 Men's Soccer

Major upset last night...

Albany 4, Vermont 0

Right now, only UMass Lowell and New Hampshire is getting national attention, and only one of them is eligible for post-season play.

UMBC vs. UMass Lowell 2:30
Binghamton vs. Hartford 7:00
Stony Brook vs. NEW Hampshire 7:00

Re: OT: 2016 Men's Soccer

Was it an upset? Albany just beat Syracuse a couple of days prior. I'd say other than the goal differential the result was predictable. Vermont has been playing like crap for weeks. They got into the polls and went straight down the tubes. They seem to believe that they can just show up when they feel like it. Albany on the other hand seems to be coming together at exactly the right time.

Albany is looking real good right now but UVM is falling apart. It would be great for AE to get UA and UNH into the NCAA tourney.

Lowell shuts out UMBC 4-0. So my only question is whether lowell cam finish the season as regular season champs. That'd be cool

UVM hasn't really been playing great soccer since its game with Dartmouth, so a loss away to Albany is not surprising. The margin may be a little- but not the actual loss itself.

Huge game at UMass-Lowell on Wednesday- will be interesting to see how the team responds.

As an aside, the AE is extremely good/competitive this season.

Re: OT: 2016 Men's Soccer

If Friday's game was debatable on being an upset, the one in Stony Brook on Saturday isn't.

Stony Brook 2, New Hampshire 0
UMBC 0, UMass Lowell 4
Binghamton 1, Hartford 1

Standings
UMass Lowell 4
Albany 4
Vermont 3
Stony Brook 3
New Hampshire 3
Binghamton 1
Hartford 1
UMBC 0

Re: OT: 2016 Men's Soccer

I didn't know that the AE is 4th in the RPI. Only behind ACC, SEC and Big East.

It was Pac-12 not SEC. I repeated what the announcer said, which was a little off (unless the article today is wrong). But 4th either way.

So best case scenario for the rest of the conference is the bubble tourni teams beat lowell to raise their rpi?

Well, it's nice to know lowell is proving to be a positive addition to the conference as a whole on top of embarrassing a few schools into caring more about mbb

Impressive! All the AE teams are solid. It will be quite a dogfight in conference. It seems like two at-large bids could be justified.

The Vermont UMASS Lowell game on Wednesday is a big one for points. If Vermont can get a win it puts them in a great position moving forward.

Expect to see quite a few MLS scouts at that game.

Re: OT: 2016 Men's Soccer

Lowell currently 9th in NCAA RPI.

Wow, well, Lowell would be an at large bid at the moment. Hopefully we recruit a decent goalie/second striker and can use this as momentum

This site: http://rpiupdatemenssoccer.blogspot....t%20Projection

Has AE 3rd in RPI. Albany projected autobid, Vermont sneaking in via at large. Were UML eligible AE would have a shot at three teams!

The best case scenario may be UNH beating UVM in the conference title game. Albany seems safe for now.

Re: OT: 2016 Men's Soccer

UMBC 0, Binghamton 1
UMass Lowell 2, Vermont 1
Hartford 1, Stony Brook 3
New Hampshire 1, Albany 2

Albany's game winner was in the 90th minute, Binghamton's goal caused UMBC's goalkeeper to go off at the ref because it may or may not have been a handball, and UMass Lowell continues to show why it's a shame they won't be in the NCAA Tournament.

Standings
UMass Lowell 7
Albany 7
Stony Brook 6
Binghamton 5
New Hampshire 3
Vermont 3
Hartford 2
UMBC 0
