Hartford terrifies me. Jalen Ross is playing very well right now. Hartford beat BC and Navy at Hartford (and Navy thumped us at Navy) so I don't know what we'll see.

Very important for UMBC to win this game to take another step forward going into the Vermont game on Friday.

Fortunately for UNH, they've only lost one game so far (and played one). So if they lose, 0-2 isn't insurmountable. 0-3 for Albany would be alarming.

I don't know if Albany wins this. Is Jacoby Armstrong back for UNH?

Albany's top two scorers are not a threat from outside and I think that is going to be their undoing against a solid defensive team.

Ah- thanks. I thought every team has played two games so far. Either way, it's become somewhat of a pretty important early conference game for both teams. UNH seems to be in a bit of a slide dating back to Dartmouth loss.

If UMBC is, who they appear to be, so far this season, I believe UMBC wins this game. Hartford seems to be who they've always been. As a Vermont fan, I'm really looking forward to seeing UMBC in person on Friday. Should be a decent indication of where both teams are.

For 1/11's games, I think the UNH/Albany match up should be most telling.

If you're UNH it's important to hold serve at home, especially with Vermont coming in on MLK Day around the corner, and it's also a big game for Albany to avoid falling to 0-3. Going to be interesting, but either way the conference is so wide open right now and a lot of teams are going to end up being in the mix for the Top 4 spots.

After seeing Vermont clobber Hartford, I expect the same sort of thing from UMBC. I've watched several of their OOC games and they played really well.

Re: AE Gameday 1/11/17

I tried looking into the jacoby suspension. a recent quote from herrion said I'm not sure when or IF jacoby will be back. He's been suspended previously. Pretty crazy as I was expecting him to be a big reason why UNH is contending

Both Jacoby Armstrong and 6'2 SG Darryl Stewart (JUCO transfer from Tyler Junior College) are redshirting, as is 6'7 freshman Chris Lester. Armstrong was suspended 1st semester, and apparently a recent decision was made to redshirt him and bring him back for a 5th year. Stewart had an academic issue where one of his math courses from Tyler didn't transfer over to UNH (after the fact), and admissions won't let him play this season. Lester had minor knee surgery to repair a meniscus.

I've said it already, but I don't see any way UNH contends this year. I see them in the 3-6 range somewhere, as they have a very short bench and some major holes in their roster. Armstrong and Stewart were supposed to be key contributors this year. Too bad, this was supposed to be the year that everything came together. They still have some talent, but not enough to contend with UVM and potentially Albany/UMBC.

I'll be surprised if they beat Albany on the road tomorrow night.

That's quite the decision to not bring jAcoby back after the first semester. Who is there back up big now? A suspension redshirt seems like a first.

With Armstrong, Leissner, and Stewart back you'd have to feel good about next year. I can see the disappointment with Dion and Smith being seniors. Could have been a really strong first seven or eight.

I don't know if the suspension was extended to a full year, or they just decided there was more value in bringing him back for a full year next year.

Their backup bigs are 6'7 soph. David Watkins, a face-up 4 who is too soft to play inside and 6'8 frosh Luke Rosinski, who's a project. UNH has very little depth on the roster this season.

Definitely could've had a very solid 8-9 man rotation this year if everything had worked out as planned.

UNH lost Bramanti as well- wasn't a big scoring threat but solid defender and did a lot of the little things. Herrion played him in a big role.

UNH beat Temple- best win by far in the conference, so if that team can show up they can be tough.
