Signed, a guy with a French-Canadian grandma who'd be proud I at least know that much of the language.
The announcer didn't saying it Frenchily, he said it like "SANta More".

I would imagine the play-by-play person, Bruce Bosley, who has been doing it all year is saying it correctly.

Middlebury wins again tonight, winning its regional. Sweet 16 is next week and they have a pretty good shot at hosting it. Nichols, Williams, and Susquhanna are in it.

St. Amour had 30, and broke the single season scoring mark that stood for 25 years. He has 641. Also, became the career leader in threes with 246 makes.

St. Amour goes beast mode last night and continues to set records at Middlebury. It's really too bad Becker schedules Lyndon St. as the D3 opponent and not Middlebury. We have a nationally ranked D3 team an hour from Burlington and we are playing Lyndon State. Just doesn't make sense.

Unfortunately, it makes plenty of sense. If UVM is playing a D3 team, why would they want to do anything that would even remotely reduce the chance of winning? They're not scheduling Lyndon for a challenge, because they don't want one.

Also, it's been confirmed: Middlebury is hosting the next two rounds next weekend. They'll play Endicott (who beat them earlier in the year), with the winner playing the winner of Susquehanna/Williams.

What is Becker afraid of...the NESCAC player of the year and Middlebury's best player in a generation couldn't even carve out a meaningful role on Vermont's squad.

He's afraid of being needlessly risky in the fluky universe of college basketball.

I'd schedule Lyndon, too, if I was in the business of scheduling D3s. That is, until Lyndon got better. Then I'd schedule Vermont Tech.

I think there must be some pressure to play teams from the state college system. In the long run, 10 or 15 years from now, I expect that those schools will become UVM-Lyndon and so forth to increase funding levels from the state government since the shrinkage of the Ag school has reduced state funding to UVM significantly.

I doubt that. It costs a lot of money to rebrand and Lyndon is already going through financial issues due to enrollment as is Johnson. Lyndon and Johnson are unifying to begin in 2018, and both schools will be known as Northern Vermont University at Johnson and Northern Vermont University at Lyndon (NVU) to help with finances. Overall, its a good move for both schools being able to be a "university" instead of a college, double their number of class offerings, and from an outside of Vermont recruiting standpoint, have the name Vermont in the name of the school to help give those from outside Vermont an idea to where it is without having to google it.

The two schools are allowed to keep their athletics, however the NCAA demands they keep separate Athletic departments and athletics budgets, despite the fact their campuses are unified.

I would highly doubt they'd spend all the time/money and energy to unify and rebrand to then rebrand as UVM at Lyndon and Johnson.

You're assuming Middlebury can/wants to play UVM. I don't think the risk of losing to Middlebury is a factor. NESCAC has limits on number of games and when the season starts that may preclude them from fitting into UVM's schedule. Brown may have hard feelings that he was never considered for UVM head job. I don't know, but it's not going to happen. I would prefer a D1 game but unfortunately a lot of other schools also are now playing one D3 gimme game.

That's good...I was just speculating on reasons they don't play UVM. I don't think these are games NESCAC team's schedule, could be wrong.

UVM would smash Middlebury. Much respect to Middlebury's success at the level they play at, but just watch some of St. Amour's highlights on BFP or WCAX- the kids are half the size of D1 athletes and the game is played at half speed.

I went to the first round game on Friday night. For what it's worth, St Amour was barely the third best player on his team that night. I know he played much better on Saturday night; however. That lead me to believe that he could be taken out of the game with a solid individual defender.

I was thinking it would be fun to watch UVM play Middlebury because they play very different styles. Middlebury and the other DIII teams I saw that night play very fast, uptempo basketball. No one has to defend for very long. They are also pretty guard dominated. Not much of an inside presence.

I agree that UVM would beat Middlebury comfortably but it would be interesting to see how the teams adjust to the contrasting styles of play.
