Just thinking back and without doing any real research, it seems that this board has a pretty low batting average when it comes to predicting which coaching hires will or will not be successful.

What's funny is if you read through some AE-related twitter, like Ryan Restivo, they're making it sound like this guy was the greatest coach ever, and the AD is "delusional." Gotta love when media types stick up for their guys because they are nice to them. Moore had 10 years and couldn't get to the NCAAs in a weak NEC, and it's clear they aren't the big fish in the MAAC.

That job will still get plenty of attention. I already bet Mike Lonergan is trying to get it.

I've never been to Quinnipiac's basketball court but the photos look very nice.

Having said that, I'll take ye old Patrick Gym and a winning program

How does John Gallagher still have a job after seeing Tom Moore get shown the door? Gallagher is 19-46 the last two seasons.

I wasn't even referring to this board. Ten years ago, Moore got a lot of hype from a lot of places (sure, the Calhoun pedigree will assist with that) and there was definitely an undercurrent of "Q-Pac is just a stepping stone for the next level for him." If you polled people in 2007 and said "Where will he be in 10 years?" you would've got a lot more "Head coach at UConn" then "Out on his ass."

Just goes to show you: predicting how coaches will work out is hard. Mostly because...

a) everyone's in a rush to come to a conclusion as soon as possible, and declare themselves "correct"

b) coaches are similar to politicians: even the popular, successful ones sometimes wear out their welcome if they stay in one place long enough

There's a lot of variables that can make or break a guy. As much as I don't really like Q-Pac, I acknowledge that's a winnable job. Probably time for a change.

I can't imagine Lonergan getting a job in any conference that partners with the You Can Play initiative.

But, he wanted Derrick Gordon at GW and the A10 wouldn't let him! (if you've seen his/any of his lackeys social media, they make sure to bring this up every time to show what a "good man he is") Nevermind the fact that the league simply didn't want inter-conference transfers as a general rule. Don't let facts get in the way of a bad PR campaign.

And, ML will be going hard after plenty of jobs this offseason while still trying to collect in his lawsuit with GW. He legitimately thinks he can get both.

In general there's a lot of hopes/dreams/excitement tied to any new coaching hire.

A lot more $$ poured into Q-Pac.

I would guess that he can to some extent, although both are likely to be far more humble than he would like.
