Re: Looking ahead for 2017-18

Let's just all pray that Will Brown doesn't jump to Qunnipiac or some Power 5 job. That could be the only thing that derails the Albany juggernaut.

UML is a real member next year!

SBU could fit anywhere from 3 to 7 next year - I just have no clue. They will be athletic - but I'm not sure they can shoot enough. They need a post presence just to defend other team's bigs.

Vermont dominates the conference again. Lamb is POY if he stays.

2) Albany
3) UMBC
4) UNH (for 4th straight year)
5) Stony Brook
6) UMass-Lowell
7) Binghamton
8) Maine
9) Hartford

I hope that UVM has an OOC schedule strong enough to get them a higher seed IF they should make the NCAA tourney next year. When I think about how much is returning and how much is being added it's hard not to think that UVM has another monster season coming.

The problem will be if any high major programs will want to schedule a mid major with the possibility of being upset.

I think you could get some games, but they will all be away. Schedule 6 and win 3 against top 50 teams and that will boost the resume. Oh yeah - and play your 2 home games against div 2 or 3 teams because no one will come to Burlington.

A Duke home and home would really be nice.

Saw an interview with Anthony Lamb tonight on Channel 3 news. Scott Fleischman asked if he was coming back to Vermont. He said absolutely without hesitation. He referenced the fanbase and players. Hopefully he is a man of his word.

I wouldn't be surprised if Patella got into the rotation as well. His film looks pretty good. He's more athletic and a better passer than Steidl and has a high basketball IQ. He could stand to get a little bit stronger like any incoming freshman. I'm not really sure what to expect out of Everett at this point. He rebounds his position fairly well and is a streaky scorer. Other than that, I haven't seen enough to say where his ceiling is.

I was on the fence as to whether next year's team would be better..but now I think they will be..at least potentially. Lamb is already the best player in the league and with his work ethic and determination, he's going to get better? After the game he had against Purdue and their front line? That alone makes them the league favorite and a threat to beat anyone. Yale and Harvard will both be better so there's a couple of potential quality wins. I think we were a little snake bit in that the teams we beat OOC didn't meet their preseason expectations..and the fact that (according to RPI) 4 of 41 worst teams in the country are in our conference. Dartmouth is in that club too.

Remember when Drew U put up 14 and 10 on Butler?

I am crazy but I think that is what he is going to give us next year - maybe 13 and 7. But I anticipate he really has a break out year next year. Im usually right about these things.

I'm excited about the schedule next year- anyone know who we're playing?. Team will have a lot of seniors that's pretty diverse across US/Canada- not sure how all of them get home games:

TBH: Buffalo/Niagara/Canisius

Drew: Seattle/Washington/Washington State/Gonzaga

Hearlihy: Los Angeles

Henson: Arkansas

Ward: Wisconsin

Rohrer: Bay Area

Well, we did this year. PC, Houston, SC, and Butler, and lost them all. I'm sure a similar schedule next year, we always face 2-3 Power Conf teams. Gotta win one, can't just play them.
