Kind of fun to find Anthony Lamb in the Sports Illustrated cover photo for March Madness.

Re: 2017 March Madness

I am really liking this Purdue team, I could easily see them upsetting Kansas to make the Elite 8. If their guards can give them a little more production I could see them in the Final 4. Vince Edwards might be the most undderrated player in college basketball, he can do a little of everything.

It's really unfortunate that Vermont drew them in the first round.

Down goes Duke! (Good games today, a shame Rhode Island couldn't finish off Oregon).

Purdue is pretty impressive, that's for sure. I saw them play twice this weekend. They showed a lot of resilience to blow a 19-point lead to Iowa State and regroup to win that game.

Swanigan and Edwards are a very good starting duo in the front court. Haas has terrible footwork for a big and struggles finishing as a result despite being 7'2". Lamb played him so well on defense for giving up eight inches in height.

I think the X-factor is Mathias. That guy can straight up stroke it from outside. He didn't have much against Iowa State but his two threes at the end of the first half were a big reason why they were able to build a big enough lead to overcome that huge Cyclone run.

That said, Kansas just eviscerated Michigan State and appear to be peaking at the right time.

My opinion is that Purdue doesn't have the depth to deal with Kansas. In more than half their seven losses they gave up at least 79 points. That's what concerns me about them against Kansas. I don't think they can get stops consistently.

Hell, if Steidl hadn't been hurt or Ernie had hit a couple more 3s, they might very well have found themselves in a single possession dogfight with Vermont.

I really can't believe Kentucky/UCLA is only a Sweet 16 game...doesn't seem right at all.

There was a lot of criticism towards the committee about the brackets. ESPN was critical of Wisconsin being a 32 overall, obviously beating the #1 overall seed in the second round isn't what validated that decision. John Calipari said in the post-game interview yesterday that Wichita St was underseeded. It's clear the RPI cannot be the only determining factor in this tournament.

Re: 2017 March Madness

Wichita St. was most definitely underseeded. Dayton got hosed playing them in the first round. The good news is that this means the quality of teams getting into the tournament are excellent and there's parity in men's college basketball. I don't envy the people on the committee making these decisions.

Wisconsin was incredibly underseeded- you can't tell me Wisconsin is an 8 seed but somehow Minnesota is a 5 seed? Makes zero sense.

UCLA a 3 is also craziness- that's one of the strongest teams in all of college basketball.
