Re: 2017-2018 Vermont Catamounts

Probably won't be able to hit them all/not logistically possible. I know we did play at Seattle last season in CBI which would have been home game for Drew. We played at UConn O'Day's freshman year I believe.

I would be happy if we could hit even 1. Some of them may be games with beneficial finances against the bigger conferences and I'm all for that.

Re: 2017-2018 Vermont Catamounts

If it were up to me, I'd prioritize a home game for Henson (Arkansas?), who has certainly earned it in his short time here, and would love to get Wisconsin on the schedule not only for Cam but the entire team.

I feel like getting Buffalo/Niagara/Canisius on the schedule should not be a problem for Trae- but worth pointing out we did already play at Canisius a couple of years ago.

Not sure about a trip out west, but Washington or any of the SoCal schools would be great.

Very true, but that was more a coincidence then something planned and on the schedule for months instead of a few days in advance. Additionally, getting tix to the NCAA Tournament may have been prohibitive for some.

But really, of all the potential places to play I think Wisconsin would be top of my wish list.

Like the list: Should have Josh on there as a Sophomore. Not sure if NCAA
will grant him a clearance to travel with team next season. (Would be great, but we all know about the NCAA). He is also the 13th scholarship, which was and is a great move by UVM.

I believe Josh is a non-roster scholarship player. He doesn't count against the limit.

Suppose Josh were to become a special trainer for "motivation and determination." Doesn't the training staff travel with the team?

Yes. I know this year the NCAA gave UVM a one year pass, that would allow him to travel. Not sure what happens next.

In case you didn't see it, the BFP reported this morning that Steidel did injure his ACL in the Purdue game and will have surgery soon. Crappy news.

How much with the absence of Steidel, Wills, and Payen affect the leadership, toughness, and defense on next years UVM team? I know we have good freshman and Dingba that red-shirted, also Stefan Smith and Patella look like solid players but who knows if one or both of them will red shirt? Patella can be our next "more-athletic" Kurt Steidel if he improves his defense over time and takes up a leadership role like Kurt did early on. Obviously we are recruiting guards this year especially if we land Nash too. That would be big for UVM

It's going to be really hard to replace 3 seniors that really understood the defensive system. It's also going to be really hard to replace the DPOY, and Steidl who became really good as a defender by the time he graduated.

Tha being said, Dingba is a really good/proven defensive player who should make an impact on that side of the ball. Other guys are going to need to come in and learn the system and returnees will need to step up.

Re: 2017-2018 Vermont Catamounts

Dingba may be better than we think on offense. If he can score inside as well as Dre Wills I would not be surprised. He is very athletic for sure, but I was impressed with his intelligence and grasp of the game when I talked to him last fall and he has had some time to learn the system.

I highly doubt dingba comes close to dre wills efficiency as dre was fourth all time in fg% last year. I also think dingba will never play on the wing. He has no outside game. Dre could atleast dribble from the wing. He may only be 6'5" in height but his 7 foot wingspan puts him closer to a 6'8" persons reach.
