Re: 2017-18 America East OOC Schedules

So with Maine at Mohegan Sun and UVM in the Bahamas. Good start for the AE. Hopefully maybe 1 or 2 more get invited to early season tournaments.

I'm thinking about going. I'm assuming it's in Nassau like the Atlantis tournament? Would seem to be the logical spot. Anyone going or have any info?

Probably not at the resort, but I don't think it'd be anywhere else besides Nassau. It's not exactly a big place.

If you want to do roadtrips to games, this is the year. I asked for an "estimate" on my season ticket cost for the season, and the math equates out to only 3 home non conference games this year.

Re: 2017-18 America East OOC Schedules

Becker referred to all these games as long term contracts though who knows how long.
Vs Dartmouth. Every year.
Vs Qpac 12th in a row. New coach moving forward.
Vs Sienna 8th in a row.
@ Yale Nov 25th. 11th in a row. At least 2 more years as Becker confirmed the same Ivys.
@ Harvard. 7th in a row. At least 2 more years as Becker confirmed the same Ivy's.

New contracts.
@ Kentucky Nov 12th. Season opener, guarantee, Most likely ESPN.
@ Richmond Nov 29th. Guarantee game.
@ NU Dec 9th. Most likely a two year contract.
Vs St Bonaventure (Neutral). Three year contract. Most likely @ home next year to give Lamb a close game his senior year.
Bahamas exempt tournament. Great mid major tourney.

We are trying to start a couple series (at least home and home) with a couple mid majors. NU
We are trying to get 3 guaranteed games but none will be in New England. Richmond, Kentucky

If we only have 3 OOC home games they are right there. I'd be shocked if we didn't add a fourth non D1. I'm guessing Becker is running all the tricks just to get other schools to pick up.

Per Abrami, the St. Bonaventure 3-game deal is for the neutral site game in Rochester and then remaining two will be a home & home.

The schedule for the Hall of Fame Tip Off Tourney is out and it's a lot better for Maine (SOS wise) than I thought!.....

Nov. 10 - @ Boston College
Nov. 14 - @ Texas Tech

Nov. 18 - vs. South Alabama
Nov. 19 - vs. Sacred Heart/St. Peter's

Re: 2017-18 America East OOC Schedules

I would love to see UVM get a home and home with a team like Valpo. Valpo has a couple of kids from the Montreal area they might want to get a game close to their homes for. Vermont certainly has enough kids from Indiana that would appreciate another game out there for.

Man, that's only a few hours from me. I may have to try to make that trip. I haven't seen a game in Rupp and it would be cool to see an AE team playing them. And seriously, I'm not sure how good Kentucky will be in the early part of the year. I mean, clearly they will have a pretty damn good roster, but they may not all be on the same page at that time. And I would anticipate Vermont to be pretty strong right out of the gate given the number of returning players.

Yeah, I really like that for Maine. Course, I literally have no clue what Maine will be like with so many new faces.

Getting better teams to come and play at Patrick will be the true indication of program growth. St. B. is a good start, Richmond would be great. Kentucky is just too hard to imagine.

I think that would be great, especially seeing as I live in Indiana.

Here's the funny thing: Evansville to Valpo is nearly 5 hours. Evansville to Lexington is only 3 hours. Indianapolis to Valpo is 2 1/2 hours. Indianapolis to Lexington is just under 3 hours.

But that's the thing that is so different out here compared to the East Coast. Nobody really has a problem with driving that distance to go to games or that far to school. However, it seems like a huge problem to drive that far to see a game in the Northeast. I mean, Maine is so far away! Well, is it really? Shoot, Hartford to Bangor is about the same travel time as Evansville to Valpo.

Anyway, I don't mean to derail the thread.

I would love to see all America East teams schedule some games out here in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky.

Done. Gotham Classic released its schedule. Albany is at Memphis on Dec. 11 and Louisville on Dec. 20. Also hosts Bryant Dec. 6, and plays Siena with neutral seating on Dec. 9

Maybe Bonaventure sees it as a recruiting tool. Olean is about 100 miles from Rochester. Could be they don't mind expanding their visibility in the region. They must compete directly with Buffalo, Canisius, Niagara and Syracuse (to a lesser degree) for upstate NY talent (how did they all miss Anthony Lamb?).

If UVM asked for a home-and-home and St B's wanted a two-and-one, it's a good compromise.
Olean is in the middle of nowhere and according to the school, Central Upstate New York (Syracuse, Rochester, Utica) has the highest population of alums in a nearby area, so they decided a few years ago to schedule there during school break when students are home and they wouldn't get high attendance on campus. They also said there's a high-number of current students in that area as well.
