LaSalle is on the other side of the bracket. Would have been nice to flop them with Texas Tech and get some visiting hours in with the good Dr. Giannini.

I don't recall Maine and LaSalle playing since he moved on.

Man, that's kinda close to Christmas...not sure I can make that one work but that would be fun as well. Thanks for the update.

Bingo. Not to revisit this discussion for too long, but smart move by the Bonnies to play games in Rochester. Get your name/program out in front of people who wouldn't normally trek to Olean: alums, prospective students, media, etc. Glad we could be a part of their plan.

How would Vermont fans feel about playing a home game hours away from Patrick to get UVMs name out?

St Bonnie's, NU, Harvard, Yale next year at home. Will be a much better schedule. I hope we can get a quality one this year. Q, Darth, and Sienna will all be down.

Worcester 2005 was a pretty nice home game that got the name out.

If UVM...

-was in a position where we already had a good number of home games every year

-and had a location where there were a lot of prospective students (and in turn, recruits) and/or a large alumni base

-that we didn't already play road games in

-that wasn't already over-saturated by D1 college basketball...

I think it'd be a great idea. But I don't think what works for the Bonnies and Rochester really has a transferable equivalent to work for UVM.

(It might be a fun concept to arrange a game in Montreal with another comparable school in New England/the northeast, as a one-time college basketball exposure event in Quebec, but I don't think it's something that would give us long-term benefit)

To follow up on catpower's post...I'd be up for playing Syracuse in Worcester on a semi-regular basis, but I don't think they'll take the bait.

Burlington is a megalopolis compared to Olean. That city is little more than a grocery store, a few liquor stores, and some bars. It's one of those college towns where the most "residents" are students living off-campus because it's cheaper, and population drops during winter break and summertime. Games during winter break would be in an empty gym.

Wish they could balance out their OOC home schedule. One year is pretty good, the next year sucks. But at least no mention of a D3 game...yet.

We didn't expect q and sienna to be so bad and the whole long contract thing.

The AE should be better next year. Albany is the only school I feel confident in having a better season but I think several more could.

Maybe if Vermont was a bigger state it would make sense. All Maine sports teams (even the ones that draw fans and win like football) will play at least one game in Portland this year.

If your school isn't near the population center of your state, you need to make some effort to engage people.

A couple of buddies and I are likely to go. The only info I've seen so far was the link in this thread. I'm sure UVM will release something when all the details are worked out. Stay tuned!
