it is bleak. They SHOULDN'T re-sign JT, as much as I love him, it will put us even deeper in cap hell. Hawks shoulda traded Theo for DC and Shareef for Horry, to get some extending contracts.
It's bad enough we got ****ty players, and it's even worse we won't get our next 1st round draft pick!!!

I would pick between REef, Terry, and Big Dog. And try to dumpp two.
Personally Id pick Terry but can he lead a team himself.??

I think the future would be to get a coach who can actually coach? We have the players! Reef, Big dog, JT, Ratliff are all tops.

w/o JT, the backcourt would be Dickau and Glover. Which will still be good for 50+ losses a season, but hey, JT is losing that much too, so no big difference. Right?

i really think this group of players doesnt mesh (which is partially the coaches fault) but y9ou would think that reef, jt, and big dog would form a solid enough core to make the playoffs but i guess n ot. they may need to wait out the long term contracts and completely rebuild

JT is good but doesnt fit
JT is good but doesnt fit on this team. I would trade JT while he is still marketable and get someone else. THis team NEEDS COREY MAGGETTE!!!!!! If the hawks had MAGGETTE they would have a defensive stopper at shooting guard and someone with enough size and strength. He is an amazing shooting guard but doesnt get the chance to showcase his abilities, even though he is still scoring good on an overladen team. I have watched MAGGETTE shut down Kobe.
I want Dickau to succeed very bad but I don't know about him anymore. I think he thinks he is better than he is. He needs to learn that if he doesn't hit his three point shots and create offensively he is practically worthless to this team and most NBA teams. He can pass and see the floor but I don't know if he is quick enough for the NBA game. He has to learn to use his smarts because that is his advantage.
The only person they should keep is Ratliff and maybe Shareef. Big Dog needs to take his bark somewhere because he sucks.
Getting Big Dog was the worst that this team could do. They thought they had a legitimate leader but he is not. His defense is so weak that it is contagious and makes his other teammates around him not play defense.

yea
Its really tough to figure out what to do. Its kinda like the Mets were last year in baseball, but worse.
I dont know if we should give up now, I think if we got a good coach, we could defintely be i nthe playoff hunt . But we seem very unsure what our future is.

The need defense at every position by center. Reef, Big Poodle Robinson, and Terry are all week defenders. Newble is ok for what he is, but he's a bench player forced into a starting role.
I think you could live with a couple of those guys being bad defenders if your lineup was mixed with a couple of good ones. The first thing I'd do, I think, is unload Poodle for the first thing anyone will offer.
Terry might actually get you something back in return, so I'd look to trade him too, if possible. I wouldn't let him walk though.
If he were combined with a guy who had PG skills but was big and could defend (Eric Snow, Baron Davis, Sam Cassell, Jamal Crawford?) he might not be that bad. Or you could try trading him to Seattle for a guy like Radmanovich to replace the big Poodle.

Einstein could not come up with a scheme to make the Hawks good in the next few years. You just gotta unload some high-paid , no defense players and get some hustle guys regardless of how bad they may be as players. get some competitiveness back in the locker room. Your bound to get high draft picks. Just do what denver is doing!!!!

I think Jason Terry is an average defender, but he is a guy you want overcommiting on the passing lanes. Not someone you want one on one with a scoring guard.

Why does everyone hate Jason Terry that is a Hawks Fan? I really think he is the future of the team even if he wants tons of money....He is young and you can still devolp him defensive skills and he is already a great offensive player..So why hate JT?
