Re: FireBillyKnight.Com
I'd just like to know what the hell the guy is doing.
I thought ATL was building this team of athletic freaks (with basketball talent).
If they wanted a big to provide some interior defense, why not trade down for Cedric Simmons?
In Simmons you get a guy who can rebound, block shots, and play in a uptempo style of basketball.
I would have taken both of the Hornets picks and added Simmons and a point guard, take your pick, none were gone by 15, or maybe you could have taken 15 and moved it to the Nets for 22 and 23.
At the end of the day this was a "safe" pick, but it was a stupid pick, I actually think Solomon Jones fits this team better than Williams.

Re: FireBillyKnight.Com
When I see stuff like this, I really have to question what some Hawks fans are thinking. Some of you must think trading down is as simply as saying "Hey, lets get the 12th and 15th picks from the Hornets." It doesn't work out that way. New Orleans was rumored to be interested in trading up, and the guy they wanted to trade up and get was Shelden Williams. I wonder why even they preferred Williams over who they got? Maybe it's because he's a better basketball player. There was no indication that New Orleans was willing to give up both picks. Why should Atlanta trade down and miss out on the player they wanted just to appease some fans?
Of course, had Atlanta traded down and got Cedric Simmons, you would probably be griping during the season about how we made a bad pick because Cedric isn't going to play that much as a rookie.
Personaly, I'm going to start a site titled www.extendbillyknight.com, because this guy has done a great job of putting this team into a position to get better without killing our salary cap by giving out bad contracts or trading for bad contracts.

Re: FireBillyKnight.Com
Are ya'll blind, don't you see Billy is putting this team in the right direction. Remember when Billy came in we were in full rebulding mode and he has done an excellent job in such short amout of time. I know ya'll like to talk about the draft " we should have pick Paul" well it is still very likely that Marvin will be better than Paul, and Paul was put in a better situation, and what about stealing Josh Smith at 17, he could have listen to those retards and choose Jammer Nelson, I know he's a solid player, but josh will be a superstar. And we don't even know how Shelden will turn out to be he might be better than expect, no thought Josh was going to make such a big impact in his rookie year, most of ya'll thought he be some bust sitting in the end of the bench. Tell me if Pete babcock could've brought a Joe Johnson ther to Atlanta.

Re: FireBillyKnight.Com
Okay, man. I can understand the hate on Billy Knight. I can. It is frustrating. But wanting another 6'9" PF instead of Shelden? LOL. I don't get what that would change.

Re: FireBillyKnight.Com
The only thing you can argue is that they could have come out better trading the pick. All the best players in this draft would have ended up either sitting on Atlanta's bench or forcing one of their best players to the bench. If they could have turned the 5th pick into Telfair that would have helped them more than Shelden Williams(hard to see how they could have done that when Portland really got a lot back for Telfair and dumped Ratliff's contract).
Short of that the only choice Knight had was to address his needs.Since Marcus Williams went 22nd that tells you how highly he graded out as an NBA prospect. If Shelden Williams had not been taken 5th he would have gone a few picks later. At worst he goes to the Sonics at 10 or NO at 12.He was the best interior player available and that is what Atlanta needed. Now Knight has to get a PG and he could really use another big man for the rotation.Until you see what he does the rest of the summer it's too soon to drop the axe on him.You can only judge the guy on the choices available to him.

I'm just saying this because i went to realgm and theres these punks saying horrible things about Shelden and B.K, he aslo suggested making a firebillykight.com website, thats why I asked.

You made a better point in your second paragraph, IMO. My question. What in the heck has Sebastian Telfair done in the NBA that makes him worth the 7th pick in the draft, much less the 5th pick in the draft? The only thing that Telfair has proven in the NBA is that he should have gone to college. He's a too short point guard that can't shoot and can't defend his position. I like Billy Knight, but if he would have traded the 5th pick in the draft for Sebastian Telfair, I would have fired his *** myself. Only Danny Ainge makes stupid deals like that. That's just a horrible deal, and the only thing that evens out that deal for Boston is that they were able to dump Raef LaFrentz's contract in it.

What's that old phrase? "Be careful what you wish for." That phrase will take on new meaning if the Billy Knight haters get their wish. If Steve Belkin takes over, ML Carr will be the Hawks new general manager. The Billy Knight haters will then be begging to get Billy back.

Exactly. And for all the crap Knight has taken, he's got this team going in the right direction. Who knows what they will do with the players eventually if he is fired? Scary thought. Although, Belkin just wants to make money, he may not do anything with them.
