The Hawks have reached an agreement with free agent center and former Hawk Lorenzen Wright on a two-year contract worth an estimated $6 million, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Re: Hawks sign Lorenzen Wright
Haha, Wright going back to Atlanta...why take a step back after all these years?
The Hawks have actually put together an interesting squad though. They could go with quite a few different starting lineups, as they have tons of young talent and five or six very versatile players.
From what I've read so far, I think they'll start next season with this depth chart...
PG: Speedy Claxton...Tyronn Lue...Royal Ivey
SG: Joe Johnson......Josh Childress...Salim Stoudamire...Donta Smith
SF: Marvin Williams...Josh Smith
PF: Shelden Williams...Esteban Batista
C: Zaza Pachulia...Lorenzen Wright...John Edwards
By adding Williams, Claxton and Wright, I would say that the Hawks have had a pretty good offseason and they shouldn't be the worst team in the league next season. I'm predicting 28 wins for this squad, and if M. Williams blossoms, they could be in the 30s.

Re: Hawks sign Lorenzen Wright
This has been rumored for a couple of days now, I think it's a nice pick up because we do need size, but I hope he doesn't decided to act up and be a bad influence on our young players.

Re: Hawks sign Lorenzen Wright
He's an undersized, poor man's Mark Blount.
When you're yelling at him for fumbling gift passes with no one even thinking about guarding him, just be thankful that you got him for half the price Memphis was paying over the past five years.

Re: Hawks sign Lorenzen Wright
This is solid news.
Wright's not the answer to the Hawks' woes, but at least the contract is reasonable. And gives another option at PF/C, which Atlanta needed. I don't think people realize just how crappy John Edwards really is.

I hear they'll battle it out for the 3 spot, but I think Mike Woodsen will come back to earth and start both of them in the 4 and 5 spot.

Re: Hawks sign Lorenzen Wright
You mean 3 and 4.
I'd imagine:
C Pachulia / Wright
PF M. WIlliams / S Williams / Batista
SF Smith / Childress
SG Johnson / Stoudamire
PG Claxton / Lue / Ivey
As Edwards might be sent away with Al Harrington (which seems to be part of the plan, though now we won't know anything for a few weeks more).
'bigman' rotation (PF/C) : Zaza Pachulia, Lorenzen Wright, Shelden Williams.
Forward rotation: Marvin Williams, Josh Smith
Swingman rotation: Joe Johnson, Josh Childress
Guard rotation: Joe Johnson, Salim Stoudamire, Speedy Claxton.
9 man rotation..
Anyone think that at times Wright and Pachulia will team up at 4/5, depending on how Shelden Williams develops? Against big teams, anyway.

I agree and think that will be the lineup the Hawks start out with.
I really think the LW signing is great though. It gives them a solid vet down low and while not the future, is something that's needed for the franchise to take the next step.
Kind of like the Raps move to get Rasho only cheaper.

Re: Hawks sign Lorenzen Wright
I'd rather have worked a move for Mihm while letting Lakers signing Lorenzen Wright... Wright isn't bad, but he is a LOT MORE of a PF than a C...
