Big announcement Monday!!!
On the radio Bernie said that the hawk will have a major announcement Monday, and on another board I heard that a LA radio station said that Al Harrington will go to the Pacers for a 2008 protected first rounder and cash, and it's expected to be announce Monday. I first thougt it was the Lo wright siging, but I remember that the signing can't be official until after the Al harrington trade.

Re: Big announcement Monday!!!
2008 protected? (presumably top 10 or 5 protected)
That's pretty lame..
And they're not even taking John Edwards?

Re: Big announcement Monday!!!
Yeah, what happened to 2007?
If something goes wrong, it might be nice to have 2 picks in 2008 but damn.. need to grab a pick for next year, to grab a PG for the future.

I'm not sure it might have been a 2007 pick, but I heard that Bird/ Walsh didn't want to give a 2007 first rounder. Maybe thats what kept the deal so long, if I hear anything else i'll comes imform immediatly.

Re: Big announcement Monday!!!
Pacerdigest.com who has access to the pacer organiztion, say that it's a protected 2008 or 2009 first rounder. So I guess we'll have to wait and see, maybe some more info will be release later today.

Re: Big announcement Monday!!!
Why? That's just speculation. And he's done nothing but good signing in the offseason.

That works for me. My only gripe about first proposed deal is that it was an unprotected '07 1st. Protection on a 2008 1st for Al Harrington should work out well.

Re: Big announcement Monday!!!
Yeah, but later draft picks just mean the team will get EVEN younger.
It's already one of the youngest, isnt it?
Smith, Williams, Childress, Zaza.
Even Johnson and Shelden are quite young.
Youth's all good and well, but unless it's an ultra strong draft (ie, 2007) a pick isnt all that great when a team should start gearing up for the playoff runs.
And Indiana should be a playoff team (or at least a fringe playoff team), the pick won't be all that high - giving them the protection in case they DO **** up is just dumb.
Unless you manage to nab Rose or Mayo in 2008, I can see them fitting quite well.
(very young though)
2007 picks have more trade value too.

Re: Big announcement Monday!!!
I don't know, if Atlanta can turn Al Harrington into Ronald Steele then that wouldn't be such a bad trade off.
Kind of like turning Rasheed Wallace into Josh Smith.

A 2007 would be better for you guys. However there really isn't much to offer in the way of PG's. 2008 however looks preety stacked for PG's. I know 2008 seems a long time away but thats when i believe we are going to see the rise of the Hawks.
