Josh Smith and Dwight Howard..

I saw a Adidas show about Darius Washington, Smith and Howard. These guys showed up to camp together, they go way back.

I knew that they played on the AAU team Atlanta Celtics when they were in high school. Randolph Morris was also on that team, and so were a few other D-1 prospects. But I didn't know they went back farther than that.
Dwight very likely could have been a Hawk. Atlanta was in prime position to end up with the worst record, but then they started winning some meaningless games at the end and ended the season as only the 4th or 5th worst team instead.

If they got Dwight Howard that year, this team would be totally different. I don't know about a winning record or the playoffs, but just different. Going from having no really strong frontcourt player to having the next Great Big... just huge.
You can win without bigs (the Bulls have been doing it for a few seasons now), but when you get a few talented ones it makes everything so much easier.
