Re: Hawks goin after ridnour?
If I was the Hawks, I'd wait and see how the draft played out. I wouldn't trade the 11 till I knew for sure that Hawes, Noah, Conley, and Brandan Wright wouldn't be there. If I was running the Hawks, I'd have a hard time deciding between Horford and Brandan Wright at #3. Horford is bigger and all...might turn into a Horace Grant, but Wright's ceiling is so much higher it's not even funny...he's also riskier and less NBA ready. Personally, I rank the top players in the draft in this order: Durant, Oden, Brandan Wright, Horford.
IMO, the Hawks are only set at the 2 and 3, so the 4, 5 and 1 can all be addressed, and the 5 and 1 really have to be. That said, if the Hawks go with Horford at #3, and Brandan Wright is still there at #11, I think I'd take both of them rather than a PG. They would have 2 good post players then, instead of none. PG would still be a weakness, but they could swing a trade to get a serviceable one with a future pick or a bench player. They really don't need 2 superstar caliber SFs, though I would hate to give either one up, especially Josh Smith. Shelden traded would be my route. I hate Duke anyway, and he's the worst ever in my book, plus he sucks...BUT being the #5 last year he might have some trade value to bring in a decent PG.
BTW, the Hawks are tied for my 2nd favorite team, so I'm not just throwing crap out there for the heck of it. I'd really like to see them get the best guys possible. Wright and Conley, Hoford and Conley, or Horford and Wright if Brandan slips as some are speculating he might. He'd just be too good to pass up at #11, regardless of need.....which technically he would be a need, cause they need both 2 legit post players, but PG might be a bigger need than the 2nd post player.
