Pre-season thread
Had totally forgotten that tonight is Atlanta's first pre-season game vs. Orlando.
Orlando is leading by 3 with 3 minutes left to play in the 4th quarter. Here's a box score to follow.

Re: Pre-season thread
Smith had a nice line.....not a bad start for Horford as well....Marvin at the line 17 times is a good sign.

Re: Pre-season thread
Orlando was up by 9 when Dwight Howard went out in the 4th quarter. ATL also rested their starters for the end of the 4th quarter except Marvin. If you can take anything from the first game is that the Magic need to do something with their bench if they are going to contend in the East this year. They aren't a very deep team. As for the Hawks, the pre-season is meaningless but I am hoping for the rookies to get off right.

Re: Pre-season thread
3-0
Acie Law started tonight and turned in a pretty decent line. 38 minutes, 10 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Marvin Williams is quietly having a very solid pre-season. Let's hope it carries over and he stays healthy.

Re: Pre-season thread
Is it Marvin or Josh starting at the 4?

Re: Pre-season thread
Al Horford looks like a great addition, finally giving the Hawks a decent inside option. Things are looking up for the Hawks, as long as they can keep the nucleas together and not make any stupid trades, they should be good in years to come.

Re: Pre-season thread
I like the current group of players, this is probably the most talent they've had since they last made the playoffs. Atlanta should be able to have a good year assuming that they can stay healthy and overcome coaching which is not always easy. Also, I can't wait to watch this team once they get in mid-season form and Horford & Law get adjusted to the speed of the NBA. They might now make the playoffs, but if everyone stays healthy they should be fun to watch (which is more than you could have said in the past).
5-1
Joe Johnson and Speedy Claxton didn't play. Al Horford coming off the bench with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

Re: Pre-season thread
Holford's such a stud, seems like everyone's too busy paying attention to Durant to be noticing him. He's a star in the making.

Re: Pre-season thread
What are the chances that Horford will have secured a starting spot come December ? If he can come in and average something like 12/10 right away he might even give Kevin Durant a run for rookie of the year.

Re: Pre-season thread
6-1
Josh Smith did a little bit of everything: 24 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 blocks in heavy minutes. Al Horford started the game at Center, btw.

Re: Pre-season thread
Why are the starters playing so many minutes in Pre Season games, don't they have other players they want to look at.

Re: Pre-season thread
7-1
End of pre-season. The minutes were spread out a little more evenly tonight. btw - Hawks went over 100 six times in the pre-season, hopefully they can keep that going into the regular season too.

Re: Pre-season thread
Horford is a stud and this team seems like it is on the upswing. That is good to see. I am personally very happy to see it - since that 1 loss in this record came against my Portland team that was playing without Brandon Roy (and Oden, of course). If this is really a litmus test of the regular season - the Hawks would do better than fine and Portland will do very well...
