New Orleans — As the bus rounded corner after corner in the Crescent City's ravaged lower ninth ward, the chatter in the back went from a low murmur to complete silence.
And then an eerie, deafening silence.
"It's crazy when people expect us to be back on our feet after just two years," a startled Field said after taking and posing for pictures with members of the Hawks' traveling party. "It hurts when they people expect you to brush it off like it never happened.
"This was a whole city that went through this, not just one area. So to say that everything should be back on its feet, residential and business, it's just not possible. And if you didn't go through it, losing everything from loved ones to where you lay your head.
"You try and keep a positive outlook now that it's two years later, but it's still a touchy subject to talk on. We're still hurting around here."
