3/17: Hawks @ Wizards
 @
TV: CSN, FSN South
Quote:
The Atlanta Hawks should be grateful Gilbert Arenas is expected to wait a bit longer before making his return to the Washington Wizards’ lineup.
While they likely won’t have to deal with one of the NBA’s top stars, the Hawks look to win their third straight game and remain in playoff position when they visit the surging Wizards on Monday night.
With a 109-98 win at New York on Sunday, Atlanta (28-38) has won two straight after losing six of its previous seven contests. It also moved into a tie with New Jersey for the eighth and final playoff spot in the weak Eastern Conference.
The Hawks, who haven’t made the playoffs since 1998-99, close out their three-game road trip against New Jersey on Wednesday. Before looking ahead to that matchup, Atlanta will try to even the season series with Washington (33-32) when the teams meet for the final time in 2007-08.

IMO, Washington is playing better without Arenas.

Re: 3/17: Hawks @ Wizards
A lot of people feel that way..but I think it's more surprise and excitement at the Wizards being able to sustain their play without Arenas.
Without a doubt they're a more dangerous team without Arenas.
People think the Wizards success is because of Arenas' absence when it's more about the Wizards knowing how to play well together.
The Princeton offense is always going to produce a competitive team, especially with the talent level the Wizards have offensively.

Re: 3/17: Hawks @ Wizards
The Wizards were 39-33 last year before Arenas went out with an injury. The Wizards closed out the season 2-12. So far this season, the Wizards are 30-27 without Arenas and 3-5 with him.
The biggest reason the Wizards have improved is because of their defense, aided by assistant coach Randy Ayers. Ayers has even gotten Jamison, one of the worst defenders in the league, to play solid defense. The Wizards would have continued to be a decent defensive team with Arenas in the lineup.
With a healthy Arenas in the lineup, the Wizards are much better and efficient offensive team. However, if Arenas is not close to recovering from that knee injury, he should not risk another injury by coming back to early.

Yeah I forgot to mention their defensive improvement...it's been really impressive.

ATL is carrying a 10-point lead early in the 4th. 87-77.
Scoring has been pretty balanced so far.

Big victory for the Hawks as they are now half a game ahead of the Nets for 8th place in the East.

Re: 3/17: Hawks @ Wizards
The Hawks just couldn't miss in the second half, and if they did they got the rebound. Joe Johnson did a good job on Caron Butler too. Good road win.
I hope this stops all the "better without Arenas" talk...he would've been going toe-to-toe with the Hawks down the stretch, instead they couldn't get anything going.

That's a false statement, in my opinion.

Re: 3/17: Hawks @ Wizards
Atlanta played some good defense down the stretch too. Jamison was getting his threes swatted
