Johnson wants Woodson back
What are you doing!!!
Boston — Sunday may have marked coach Mike Woodson's final outing under contract with the Hawks. His contract ends June 30. There has been no official word on whether or not he'll receive a new contract.
And Woodson refused to discuss his job status during the postgame media session.
Hawks captain and All-Star Joe Johnson is firmly entrenched in the Woodson camp, though.
"I hope he comes back," Johnson said Sunday. "I hope we're able to bring him and his entire coaching staff back. That was one of the main attractions for me coming here [from Phoenix three years ago], so I would definitely love to see him come back.
"I've learned a lot from all of those guys. They've taught us all a lot. I would definitely love to see them come back."

Re: Johnson wants Woodson back
Mike Woodson was one of the reasons he wanted to go to Atlanta ? Seriously ?

Re: Johnson wants Woodson back
Woodson is probably a good guy off the court and Johnson doesn't want to throw him under the bus. Even though I think they should make a change at head coach, I could very well see Woodson staying but Billy Knight getting the boot. The two of them were feuding the second half of this season (maybe longer?).

Re: Johnson wants Woodson back
Both deserve to be gone.
I think he really wants him back, usually players are saying that this up to the management and try to avoid making a clear a statement.

Re: Johnson wants Woodson back
You're probably right ATLien, Woodson's probably a good guy and Joe Johnson likes him in that regard and doesn't want to see him get the boot.
Plus, when you've been with a coach for that long, and just come off a great series (parts of it anyway), you'd ofcourse be attached to your coach.
Anyway, after the Boston series (and yes, it was just 2 good games in 1 series but still), I don't think it'd be all that crazy/bad to bring Woodson back for just 1 more year. It wouldn't exactly be productive but I'm just saying it wouldn't be that significant next year imo. And you can wait for the following off-season when not so many teams are looking for head-coaches I guess..
But yea, he probably does deserve to be gone, he's had long enough. I want to see Knight gone before Woodson though..
