GW = 8th Seed
They're the 8th seed in the Atl. region. They'll face UNC-Wl. and if they win, they get Duke.
What are your thoughts on GW gettings an 8th seed?

Re: GW = 8th Seed
How nice to not only put them as an 8th seed, but to have them play in NC against UNC-Wilmington. Granted that the OOC sked was a joke, but this may be the biggest slap in the face that the A-10 has ever had. Throw in Xavier's #14 and you can offically say that the committee views the A-10 as if it is one of the true lower level leagues out there.

Re: GW = 8th Seed
I posted a while back that I felt that GW was going to be a one and done in the tourney. With their 8 seed, and the possibility of facing Duke in the second round, it looks like they'll get their one win like I said, and then be done. People in the A-10 have been singing their praise all year, but this team's record is a reflection of a weak OOC and a weak A-10 this year.
We'll see in a week or so just how good GW really is. I hope they are able to beat a strong UNCW team in the first round, but I'm not even so sure if they'll win that one. The great thing is that the possible second round matchup will give GW and the A-10 to make a statement win. GW has been looking for respect all season long, well, here's their shot.

Re: GW = 8th Seed
Unfortunate seeding. But, with the week schedule (323rd out of conference) per Pomeroy, and an rpi of 37, I guess it shouldn't be that much of a surprise.

Re: GW = 8th Seed
WOW, yeah that's ridiculous. I hated on their tournament qualifications in a previous thread, but they got crapped on here. Having to play UNC Wilmington and then Duke in North Carolina as an 8 seed is not fair.

Re: GW = 8th Seed
Does anyone think Joes has an outside shot at getting in? If so, they only have one region left to get in...
EDIT: NVM, they didnt get in.

Re: GW = 8th Seed
Why should GW be higher than an 8 seed? They have an RPI of 37 and the weak SOS. To find a team in the RPI with a lower RPI than GW and a higher SOS, you have to go to #88 Pacific and then to #112 Sam Houston State. Yes, GW won out in a weak A-10, but lost in the quarters of their own tourney to a #9 seed by 15 and it's unknown how Pops will be once he returns.
To me, it seems pretty fair, as does XU with a #14. Despite winning the tourney, they're without two of their best players, and finished the season 8-8 in the conference. They limped to the finish line before putting four games together on essentially their home court. Neutral court, who knows how the Charlotte game goes or the SJU game.
If the A-10 wants some respect, we've got to win the games in the tournament and we've gotten some matchups that, if we're able to pull off the upsets, we'll command respect. Think about what could happen. GW could knock off Duke in the secound round and then Xavier could knock off the Zags. The two best college basketball players could see their tournament runs end as a result of the A-10. That's the opportunity.
Low seeds are a result of our actions OOC, and GW's inability to win (or win convincingly) without Pops. Take care of business next year, and we aren't discussing how we don't receive respect. Respect must be earned.

Re: GW = 8th Seed
What a tough seed for both programs. I think that GW got the shaft. X made their own bed, but drawing Gonzaga is a nightmare. I was hoping for 5/12. We don't have nearly the rep that I thought we had.
Wow.

I guess in the words of Rick Pitino the committee is saying "Jameer Nelson and Lionel Chalmers are not walking through that door!"
