It would be great to see Fordham in MSG for the pre-season NIT finals. But it's a long tough road from Rose Hill to 8th Avenue and 33nd Street.

Re: Fordham's 06-07 Schedule..

There is a tough 4 game OOC road stretch. How do Fordham fans think they will do in this stretch:

Wed. Dec. 6 at University of Maryland College Park, MD 8:00 p.m.
Sat. Dec. 9 at Penn Philadelphia, PA 7:00 p.m.
Tues. Dec. 12 at Texas A&M College Station, TX
Sat. Dec. 23 at College of Charleston Charleston, SC 6:00 p.m.

I look at these games and think it is possible that Fordham could lose all four as winning any games on the road is always tough and these programs typically have good teams. My guess however is that Fordham gets a least one win (probably either Penn or Charleston). These games also come after two tough home games against your local MAAC rivals (Manhattan and Iona).

This OOC schedule looks to be a step up for Fordham. There are not a lot of easy games. There are three big name BCS opponents and plenty of other solid teams such as Iona, MC, Penn, and Charleston. The easiest OOC games appear to be Sacred Heart, St. Francis, Quinnipiac, and Fairfield.

It will be interesting to see how Fordham starts off the season. The team has struggled in the OOC the last few years before gelling as a unit later in the season.

We will absolutely beat Penn, we worked them over at home last year and they are now Dunphy-less. I think CofC is about a 60-40 chance in our favor. As far as UMd and T-A&M go, I think one of those could be a surprise win. Iona and Manhattan are definitely going down.

I agree that this is a big step up.

Smile Re: Fordham's 06-07 Schedule..

I'm biased being a Fordham alum, but this schedule provides an excellent opportunity for post-season play if, and it is a big if, we do well OOC and repeat our in conference performance of last year. I am intrigued by the A&M game, wonder what the impetus was for that one.

Re: Fordham's 06-07 Schedule..

Fordham should win the CofC game. I can remember when they were pretty good, but, as of late, the Cougars are basically an also-ran in the Southern Conference. Yes, they have Bobby Cremins, but, as with CofC, when he last coached at Georgia Tech, the Yellow Jackets were becoming an also-ran in the ACC. After what Davidson did to the A-10 last season in winning games over UMass and St. Joe's (plus taking Charlotte to 2 overtimes before losing), the A-10 needs to win these matchups with the low-major SoCon. We have no business losing ANY games to any team in the SoCon.

Anyway, my 2 cents...

Re: Fordham's 06-07 Schedule..

The 2 most important things for Fordham in its OOC schedule is to: 1. get off to an good start and win the games it should win (St. Francis); and 2. prove that it can win on the road. If the Rams can win @ Penn and @ COC and take care of business against the teams it should beat, then they can get to A-10 play w/ an 8-4 record. That would help their RPI and their confidence as they have a tough start to the A-10 schedule.
