That's what Byron Larkin says. But most of the X fans think he expends too much energy on defense to score on O. I find that argument rather ridiculous.

His coach does not want to live with the 0-10, 0-15 fg attempt games that sank the team on occasion last year. Stanley is the only player in the league who can single-handedly lose a game on his shooting if you give him the green light. Stanley says that he can score 20 every night, but he cannot. But now he paints it as a personal sacrifice. He is a glory hound in the worse sense, and he spins it as love for his team. he is disgusting.

Perfect. In last year's tourney Stan went 1/12 from the field and 1/5 from the line. Stan's offense went long before he "sacrificed" for the team. There is another element to this: it is Stan's motivating/leading being a bit contrived. We've all had the coach give the Knute Rockne speech that didn't ring true. It's the one where you look around at your teammates thinking "Look, Coach is doing his best Knute Rockne impersonation."

This is funny as Stan is a senior and Xavier will only play 3 more games against A-10 Teams.
Stan has the most heart in the A-10 and your coaches would love to have him on your team - NO DOUBT!

Re: Stan Says A-10 teams "pathetic"
I am very happy that Brian Roberts is 1st team and Stanley is 3rd team. I think that has more to do with this outburst than any facade of team love.

Of all the ridiculous things that will ultimately be said in this thread, this is without a doubt the worst. How do you quantify heart? I watched Michael Lee from Bona play with tons of heart. Kevin Lisch goes balls out every minute of every game. The entire Duquesne team is the same way. London Warren, too. How the hell do you compare "heart"? You can't.
What a dumb thing to say.

Has anyone else noticed that poor ole Stanley always says he could care less about individual awards but he always brings them up?

Re: Stan Says A-10 teams "pathetic"
spider23,
The teams goal at the beginning of the year was to win the A10 tourney. What more pressure do you think is put on them by this? Do you really think that CJ and BJ or whomever is worried now because Hammer is *****ing? Get over it and beat em if you don't like. That will shut him up for at least a game.

A10Fan, Obviously we couldn't beat them. I just think it is a poor reflection on your program to let this guy talk stupid like this.

Re: Stan Says A-10 teams "pathetic"
Stan needs guidance. I would have hoped that someone at Xavier would have taught him about sportsmanship by now. His mentors are asleep at the wheel.

This time it was Xavier, the No. 3 seed with an attitude, that got Bruin-ized, 76-57. XU was so intense that when a flag-waving, UCLA cheerleader planted himself at halfcourt during the pregame warm-ups, Musketeers senior guard Stanley Burrell told him to get off the floor. When the cheerleader didn't budge, Burrell gave him a baby forearm shiver.
"He was cursing me," the cheerleader said. "Most disrespectful thing I've ever seen. But no big deal."
