Re: CollegeHoops.net - Top 144 teams has started
Not very good and yet he came up with some big plays during another run to the ELITE 8. All the while the best cryer guard in 18 years couldn't get his team dancing. What a sad commentary.

Re: CollegeHoops.net - Top 144 teams has started
I like Dante Jackson. I think he's going to be a bigger part of the Xavier future than even Xavier fans think. That logjam at guard will sort itself out and at least one player will probably transfer, taking away some of the depth. Jackson, being the most experienced player in Xavier's system will be the guy his junior and senior years. I'm not sure about his talent, but I'm pretty confident he'll be solid at worst and possess good basketball smarts. He'll be a glue guy. He may end up being their next Burrell, but smarter and better offensively.
Sidenote: If none of those guards transfer, Miller is in the wrong business. He should be selling bridges in NYC. Loads of highly rated guards...someone will get squeezed out of minutes by default. It's a heck of an issue to likely have, though.

London Warren played nearly 200 more minutes as a sophomore than BJ Raymond. If you're going to use stats, you can't even begin to compare those two players without projecting Raymond out to the same number of minutes as Warren. Not only that, but Raymond shot over 50 more times than Warren, despite the difference in minutes player. End of story. The sample sizes are just too different. It's apples to shoes.
Now please, stop. You're embarrassing yourself. And more importantly, you're embarrassing me for rooting for the same team as you.

AdamFlyer is on the record that on a sports message board, fans cannot compare players' performance unless they play the exact number of minutes and take the same number of shots. Anything else? Comparing two basketball players will never under any circumstances be the equivalent of comparing apples to shoes. Whether you are embarrassed about anything is not a concern of mine.

That would be great. LMAO. He sure mastered the Burrell art of whining to the refs.
My take on Jackson is unless the current freshmen are very bad, he is going the way of a previous Jackson on X. I could be wrong, but i doubt it.

Yes, you read correctly. Our horrible backup shooting guard went to the dump and calmly made a key basket in the deciding run. The Jet had a normal day for him, 1 point in 19 minutes with 4 turnovers thrown in.
Does anyone have Dante's statement that he made when he signed with X? I think that fits into this thread perfectly.

Location was always thought to be a factor for Jackson, and to some extent it was, but more of it had to do with coaches showing him love...I really have always said I'm going to go to a school that wants me...I just wanted to go to a place that I was wanted. I just felt if Michigan wanted me that bad they would have held a spot for me."
...
Jackson continued, "I would like to thank Coach Gregory and his staff for the way they recruited me for the last two and a half years, but when it came down to it I wanted to be in a program that developed players to go to the NBA, won championships, and in recent history Xavier's done that and Dayton has not."
Good luck to Dante on his NBA pipe-dream. I wonder how wanted he will feel when the incoming crop of guards is eating up his minutes?

Smarter than Burrell won't be a huge hurdle, nor will better offensively.
I can't wait for the Dante press conference this year where he bashes the A10 coaches for leaving Adrion Graves off of the all A-10 teams, calls out all the A10 players who have double his talent, says it will be motivation for the teams early exit from the A10 tournament, tears well up in his eyes, and he promptly walks out of the press room under severe emotional distress.

Re: CollegeHoops.net - Top 144 teams has started
Stealth and dunk, when your own fellow fans call you out maybe it's time to start listening.
The NBA was part of his reasoning for coming to X, we'll have to see how it plays out. The other was championships, and he's got one already plus an Elite 8 - neither of which he'd have if he'd picked Dayton. Seems like a bright young man.
Even if Dante never plays in another NCAA game he'll have played in more than any flyer has in the last 24 years. And if I was a betting man my money would be on him playing quite a few more.
Being sore losers is unbecoming. You wanted Dante Jackson bad but lost him to X. 3 more years of crying coming up.
Jackson continued, "I would like to thank Coach Gregory and his staff for the way they recruited me for the last two and a half years, but when it came down to it I wanted to be in a program that developed players to go to the NBA, won championships, and in recent history Xavier's done that and Dayton has not."

I'd like to talk about bbguy being a poster boy for message board quacks. Based on his previous contributions, one would hope Brian Roberts never meets bbguy in a dark alley:
STEALTH "cloak of shame" would you lake to talk about roberts
ask brian roberts girfriend's father

Why, brob couldn't defend anyone much less himself. sorry that was too easy. I like Roberts but the cryer triumvirate of idiocy just makes it hard not to shoot the fish in the barrel.

IMO, Dante is going to be a fairly average player. I don't think he is well suited for pg duties.

He was not recruited to be a PG. he is a 2/3 and only played PG out of necessity. I suspect he may start there this year until the freshmen show they are ready and understand Miller's offense and pack-line d
