Re: Xavier recruiting
I have the cryer quintet on "ignore", and the occasional quotes from those losers that show up on other posts always reinforces my decision. Poor dunkie just doesn't get it; every post shows him to be a bigger pathetic loser with his continuing and increasingly unhealthy fixation with Xavier. Despite his "concern" for Muskie recruiting, this fixation reveals that in his heart he knows xu95's above post is true. Xavier, even with coaching changes and interupted recruiting trails, owns and continues to own his cryer team.

Re: Xavier recruiting
Matta is a creep. A giant creep. He works over Cameron Wright early and Wright commits to the program early. Then Matta finds other potential avenues that look better than Wright and label Wright as his "worst" incoming recruit, so Matta works to improve the baseline recruit in his class by ignoring him to the point where Wright basically feels entirely unwanted. Mattas tactic works as Wright sees the writing on the wall Matta has been scribbling with a Cap'n Crunch Secret Decoder Pen and decommits. Weatherspoon immediately moves into Matta's circle like he's his long lost friend.
For better or worse, you offer a kid and the kid commits and hes a good kid who keeps his nose clean and is making grades, you stick with him and treat him like every other recruit before and after signing. It seems Matta wants it both ways. He wants commitments early and often, but if he can find someone else to leapfrog you talent-wise, your offer really isnt worth much and he'd rather you leave. Sorry Thad, you played your cards and felt Wright would make OSU better and be a fine addition. Keep your promise. But more importantly, keep it from sending the wrong message to a kid that he's expendable like being replaced by a better looking trophy wife.

Re: Xavier recruiting
Leaving isn't on Matta's mind (Cincinnati Enquirer, April 2, 2004)
CINCINNATI, Ohio — He's happy at Xavier now. "I'm not a guy with one foot out the door," Matta said Thursday, from Cincinnati. "Xavier has been loyal to me, and I appreciate it," Matta said. His current contract is good through 2013. He soon will meet with athletic director Mike Bobinski, to review the season and quite possibly enrich his deal. Life is sweet on Big Victory Parkway. Matta accepts head coaching position at Ohio State (USA Today, July 7, 2004) COLUMBUS, Ohio — A week after declaring he had no interest in the vacant Ohio State basketball coaching job, Xavier coach Thad Matta accepted the position shortly after it was offered to him Wednesday. "As of last night, I was not going to go to Ohio State. I spoke with Mr. Geiger late last night and through our conversation decided to go up there today. And 6:30 tonight is basically when I accepted the job," Matta told Cincinnati television station WCPO on Wednesday night. Ohio State's Matta may face some angry fans from Xavier LEXINGTON, Ky. _ His "I am not a candidate" departure from Xavier in July 2004 put Thad Matta in the company of Butch Davis and Nick Saban as coaches whose exits were less than graceful.

Re: Xavier recruiting
It doesn't matter what the thread is about. Every thread Muddy changes it into his creepy Xavier hating fetish. It is weird that someone I know only through a message board creeps me out so much.

Re: Xavier recruiting
There are no Xavier recruits. Please move on to the next thread.

Re: Xavier recruiting
Looks like Parrom is now down to 2, Zona and Pitt.
The dayton quintet don't know what to do, rejoice at X being eliminated, or be sad because they could have bashed on the kid for an overbloated incident with his high school coach for the next 4 years... X will just bank the scholly I think.

Re: Xavier recruiting
I thought Brown decided to come back, or has this not been decided yet?

Re: Xavier recruiting
I've always liked the competition between X and UD, but I am sad to see Miller's departure result in this type of a situation for Xavier. I guess, in some sense, it was fortunate that this was not one of those "5 recruit years" that many programs have. Bunches of kids decommiting at once could have a severe impact. Xavier can recover from the loss of recruits in next years class. The only way this has a big impact is if Brown goes to the NBA. Then Mack is going to have to be very creative with his forward position.
