Re: Xavier recruiting
I don't think a final four (In the league tournament) is possible for Xavier with Jamel McBrick and Abraham Taylor playing forward.

This time it was Xavier, the No. 3 seed with an attitude, that got Bruin-ized, 76-57. XU was so intense that when a flag-waving, UCLA cheerleader planted himself at halfcourt during the pregame warm-ups, Musketeers senior guard Stanley Burrell told him to get off the floor. When the cheerleader didn't budge, Burrell gave him a baby forearm shiver. "He was cursing me," the cheerleader said. "Most disrespectful thing I've ever seen. But no big deal." |

Re: Xavier recruiting
All this coming from fans of a team that had so many brick layers on it last year that you would think they were a masonry academy.
While we are definitely in some trouble if Brown leaves, but even if McClean and Taylor are our only 2 options at PF we will have more than enough shooting ability as a team. |

I have heard good things about Lyons, but when I watched him play, I was not overly impressed. He is athletic, and a good slasher offensively, but he lacked a good shot. He also needs to learn to be a pg. He will be a good defender. He reminds me a lot of London Warren, with a slightly better shot, and maybe not the steals or assist abilities. Crawford gives us a big upgrade at shooting guard, but I am still hesitant about point guard. Holloway faded as the year went on, and there are lots of unknowns with Lyons. Dante Jackson is obviously out of position at point. If we lose Brown, I don't think we are the clear favorite in this league. The loss of Parrom to raccoonface is big if that happens. We just are always going to be doing strange things to make up for the lack of depth at small forward and power forward. It will cost us. |

Re: Xavier recruiting
Loki, why do you insist on posing as an X fan? Is it because your cryers can never seem to get over the hump? When Brown comes back X will have plenty of depth at the 3/4. Brown,McLean,Walsh,Crawford, and Jackson is more than enough to handle those positions. PG depth will be increased on a team that already was in the Sweet 16. I would worry more about UD's ability to score than what X is going to put on the floor.
BTW, if you really were an X fan then you would know that Parrom has already committed to Arizona!

Re: Xavier recruiting
Like you are being an adult by calling our former coach raccoonface? Move on man. It is a new era of Xavier Basketball and every era since 1980 has been better than the one before.

Re: Xavier recruiting
I love it when Xavier fans get pissy with each other. I like this "Raccoonface" stuff too. I wish I had thought of it.

Re: Xavier recruiting
Yep, that would be a big pickup (again) if Latham picks the Muskies (again).
Quote: “Coach Mack, he really wants me to still attend Xavier,” Latham said. “He really likes my game, my attitude and me as a person. He really wants to coach me. ... I’m seriously considering sticking with them, but I’m looking at my options also. They’re probably the number one team on my list right now." |

Re: Xavier recruiting
Xavier fans have some time until they learn of Brown's decision to stay or go. If he does go, I'll bet they at least try to get a walk-on with good size just to have another player on the roster.
Xavier needs Latham or Spoon to recommit. They can't have the Miller departure being seen as a total disaster.

Re: Xavier recruiting
Loki, please quit speaking for Xavier fans. Derrick is probably gone. xavier will still be a tournament team and beat Dayton in Cincinnati.
Latham and Spoon will both re-commit. I am convinced that dude from Florida will come to Xavier too. xu95 |

Re: Xavier recruiting
On Wednesday, Brian Snow marked Coach Mack's scorecard:
2010 Hot Board (MusketeerScoop.com - May 13, 2009) It will be interesting to see if Coach Mack can get 3 of prospects listed for the 3 available 2010 scholarships.

Re: Xavier recruiting
Latest Mack update:
Mack is in some recruiting dogfights with Farleigh Dickinson and UMBC right now. He is also taking a hard look at some America East talent. Keep up the good work.
