Re: Xavier recruiting
I hear that we will be stealing a stud (with bad hair) from Monmouth!

Re: Xavier recruiting
Travis Taylor is transferring to Xavier, picking up Walsh's scholarship. Here is the link: http://cincinnati.com/blogs/xavier/. This suggests that Xavier is done with recruiting for the 2011 class unless someone else transfers.

Re: Xavier recruiting
Don't they still have an open scholarship? Why would they be done?

Re: Xavier recruiting
I checked and it looks like they will have three scholarships open up with only two (Davis and Wells) commitments. So the Muskies can continue their recruiting for that class. Thanks for the heads-up.

Re: Xavier recruiting
After watching the 2010-2011 freshman class get killed over and over in the Deveroes league, I am encouraged by this turn of events. Next years class is looking good. Taylor2 put up big numbers at Monmouth even though the only decent team they played all year was Seton Hall.

Re: Xavier recruiting
Good pickup for the Muskies. The kid averaged 18 and 8 as a sophmore. Granted, he played in the Northeast Conference at Monmouth, but those are still good numbers. Give him a redshirt year to hit the weights and practice and he could be a really nice addition to the frontcourt in 2011.
I would think Coach Mack and staff are going to turn up the heat on Jakarr Sampson, Jalen Reynolds, and Kadeem Jack. If I had to bet, I would put my money on Reynolds being the last commit for 2011.

Re: Xavier recruiting
The Deveroes League is dominated by present and former college players, some who have played overseas as pro's, so no I wouldn't expect the hs kids to crash the party in their first few games, but it is a great experience for them.

Re: Xavier recruiting
Adrion Graves was summer league MVP before his freshmen season. Yeah, that's a great barometer of future success.
Adrion Graves was one of the biggest busts in Cincinnati Prep history. |

Re: Xavier recruiting
Sounds like Travis was headed to BC before they found out he had been suspended at Monmouth. According to the Monmouth student athlete handbook, these are the offenses that would warrant the 25% suspension that he received:
-Sanctions for Illegal Substance (Socially Used Drugs): 1st Positive Test: Suspension from the team for 25% of the championship season -Sanctions for Performance Enhancing Substance: 1st Positive Test: Suspension from the team for 25% of the championship season -Proof of providing alcohol to a recruit will equal a loss of 25% of the championship season for the host student athlete. http://www.gomuhawks.com/attachments1/4284.pdf |

Re: Xavier recruiting
Graves had talent. It was just a case of poor coaching development.
