Re: Dayton Recruiting
Maverick Morgan remains one of Archie Miller's top targets in the HS Class of 2013. Maverick had an excellent junior-year season: Regular Season GWOC Stat Leaders (Greater Western Ohio Conference - Updated March 8, 2012) Maverick Morgan's Final 2011-12 Stats & Game Log (Greater Western Ohio Conference - March 11, 2012) Code:
FG% FT% BLK RPG PPG Maverick Morgan 61.0% 67.0% 3.5 9.6 21.3 Dayton Staff Gets Jump on Recruiting (Matt Schwade, FlyerHoops - March 19, 2012) With Dayton making a first round exit of the National Invitation Tournament last week, it allowed the Dayton coaches to get a jump on recruiting efforts that likely wouldn't have been possible if they had a second round matchup to prepare for and play. While the loss to Iowa last Tuesday night might have stung Flyer fans momentarily, fans of Dayton recruiting are rejuvenated about the opportunity it afforded the UD coaching staff on the recruiting trails. The Dayton Flyers have two scholarships available for the 2012 class still and look to be going hard on wings or combo guards. Here's a list of the top prospects FlyerHoops.net is hearing that have been targeted by the Dayton staff and could play immediately this fall: [A subscription to FlyerHoops.net is required to read this article.]

Re: Dayton Recruiting
I think UD stands a good chance at landing Morgan. With Kavs and Benson graduating after next year, he could become a major player on our team by his sophomore year. We keep hearing that if OSU offers, that's where he'll go but these kids are going to start learning pretty quick that Matta is at best a 7 man rotation guy...just ask Offut, Witherspoon and Sibert...all highly recruited kids that couldn't get off the bench at OSU.

Re: Dayton Recruiting
Jalen Robinson was named Co-Player of the Year in D1 on the All-State team. This makes him one of the three or so favorites to win Mr Basketball, which would be Northland's 4th in a row I believe. Dayton has never gotten am AP Mr Basketball (the real award), although Brooks Hall was the coaches award. Think it should go to Adolphus Washington, though. Was never a major bball recruit due to his size and football ability, but the best HS player in the state this year for sure.
Devon Scott was second team all state.

Re: Dayton Recruiting
Good to see for both of them. I don't see Robinson winning Mr. Basketball for the simple fact that he and Scott played together and stunted each other's numbers a bit. Put them individually on a team where they had to be the everything for their team and you probably would have seen a 25 and 15 player. Would be hard to argue against Washington and there's another kid whose name is escaping from up north somewhere that's pretty deserving too.
Edit: looking through Muddy's list, it's Rozier I was thinking of. nevermind Last edited by Flyer75; 03-20-2012 at 05:22 AM. |

Re: Dayton Recruiting
ya, thanks....i realized that right after I posted my comment. I thought Muddy's list was all of Ohio, not just D1. I'm an idiot.
For those now wondering, I was gonna ask why no Dunbar players...like A10fan said, different division. |

Re: Dayton Recruiting
Off the top of my head, the last time I can recall the Dayton Flyers getting two seniors from the same high school team was in 1974, when Coach Don Donoher signed Jim Paxson, Jr. and Doug Harris, both of whom graduated from Kettering Archbishop Alter High School in 1975 and the University of Dayton in 1979. Jim Paxson was selected 12th in the 1979 NBA Draft and played 11 seasons for the Portland Trail Blazers and Boston Celtics. Paxson averaged over 21 PPG in the 1982-83 and 1983-84 seasons, and he scored in double-digits in the 1983 and 1984 NBA All-Star games. Jim Paxson scored over 11,000 points in his 11 NBA seasons. Jim Paxson was also a member of the legendary 1987-88 Boston Celtics team: Code:
Rk Player Salary 1 Robert Parish $2,038,333 2 Larry Bird $1,800,000 3 Kevin McHale $1,300,000 4 Jim Paxson $875,000 5 Artis Gilmore $863,000 6 Dennis Johnson $832,500 7 Danny Ainge $625,000 8 Bill Walton $425,000 9 Fred Roberts $200,000 10 Dirk Minniefield $100,000 11 Brad Lohaus $75,000 12 Reggie Lewis $75,000 13 Mark Acres $75,000 Hopefully, Jalen Robinson will enjoy long-term success in basketball similar to Jim Paxson, and Devon Scott will do a lot better than Doug Harris.

Re: Dayton Recruiting
I think unless you get your top recruiting targets in the early signing period, its not a bad idea to hold ship(s) for the late period especially when you've got 4-5 to offer for an incoming class. You get the late developers, those previously uncommitted, transfers and decommits due to coaching changes. I don't know if AM has any interest in guys he previously offered, nor if the recruits will change their minds, but Dotson committed to Oregon, and I believe their coach was recently fired. Hawkins committed to Wichita State and their coach is supposedly a hot target for a couple of vacant positions.

Re: Dayton Recruiting
Does Ohio have an All State Team where the players are selected irrespective of whatever division they played in and indicate which college if any, the seniors received scholarships to?

Re: Dayton Recruiting
Muddled has all the info locked in grandma's basement with him. Just ask and if it has ANYTHING to do with UD then he'll provide 50 links to the useless minutia.
